Hey all! We're getting married in DR in Feb 2012 and just beginning the search for a resort. Any suggestions? I've signed on with Destination Weddings and am strolling through what they offer. I'd love shout outs on places booked and great wedding coordinators. Any and all comments totally welcome!

Welcome!!! We are getting married February 4th 2012 at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana.  We had a terrible time deciding on a resort, we actually planned on getting married in Jamaica but then I came across the Majestic Colonial Brides group on facebook after a friend suggested the resort and I was SOLD!!! It has been such an amazing resource in addition to this site!!

I am using Pauline Blacoe shine@shinetravel.ca  She has been absolutely fantastic and came back with the best rate for us! We tried 4 travel agents before finally finding her and she is so quick to respond and really cares about making sure we are comfortable and informed which has been a complete turn around from what the other TAs did!

Hope this helps!!!!

Deciding on a resort was the most time consuming part of all the wedding planning I think, we decided on the Majestic Elegance as our resort and we are getting married at the Jellyfish Restaurant, Mayte is the wedding coordinator and she handles everything-- the ceremony & reception decorations, chair sashes, chair sashes, centerpieces, name cards, menus, etc.. we don't have to bring down anything, you pay a fee but she will handle everything for you.  Shes awesome at getting back to you and will respond promptly, only when she is really busy with weddings (shes the only coordinator and they have back to back weddings it seems).

I also decided on the Majestic Elegance and the Jellyfish.  Mayte will take care of everything you would like.  I was also able to go down and do a site visit and everything is awesome.  I saw a wedding and receiption happen at the Jellyfish - it looked AMAZING! and both the Majestic Elegance and Colonial are gorgeous.

Jlaruda - I am getting married on 11-14-11 - 2 days after you, what are you doing for make-up?  That is one of the last pieces I am trying to figure out and there seems to be no good reviews of any make-up artists down there.  I've read a few horror stories about the resort salons doing bridal make-up.  Does anyone else have any sugestions or recomendations?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
