Congrats!  I am sending mine out 3-3.5 months before (sent out STDs earlier too) because I don't want to give people too much time to forget about it if I send it too far in advance! haha, not sure what others are planning/have done though!

I made my own Save the Dates and sent them out in January and now I'm trying to figure out when to send my invitations! LOL

I'm just not sure what to do...to break it down; the wedding coordinator in DR said she would need a guest list 3 months before our wedding which would be August.

If people are booking with our group rate, they have to make a full payment by the beginning of September.

So I almost feel like I need to stick with those timelines, you know?

I don't want people booking after the rest of book because that will alter the packages for our wedding as well (both the ceremony and the reception).

So my idea was to send out invitations in May, have them RSVP by July and then that way I can get a guest list to the coordinator by August AND they will have sufficient time to pay for September.

I don't know if that makes any sense...lol

That makes total sense Aphrodite! :) you're on the right track.

You already sent out the Save the date which is always good, have you done a wedding website? I have one and I put all the information needed to book the trip on it, I had a couple of guests that were ready to book or leave a deposit and would be fine without receiving the invitation first in order to do it.

@Aphrodite:

I'm getting married November 26, 2011. All of my guests have already put down their deposits for the hotel. We went through a travel agent and let her handle the bookings. Im sending out official invitations in May and then a reminder keepsake in September. Because we got such a good deal, we only had a 3 week window to get our initial deposit in. One thing you may want to consider with your timeline is that because of the unrest in the Middle East, gasoline prices are rising like crazy. Therefore, ticket prices are going up. You may want to let your guests know the booking information now so that they can go ahead and get their airline tickets.

I looked at the Gran Bahia Principe and it is absolutely beautiful. I had to go with another resort because they didn't have my date open.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
