Baby's Birthday Party During Wedding Weekend?

oh I like the idea of a "welcome dinner/Avery's birthday" on Friday. Or even a brunch on Saturday so it doesn't interfere with the rehearsal or anything.

they have somehting planned for friday night already................and OF COURSE i would never plan anything without asking them. i know they will say its not a problem and to do it but i just really dont want to impose on her.

how bad would a 10am or 2pm party be on the day before?

maybe i should just forget it and have her party on her actual birthday and just invite our firends................might make it easier.

thanks for your opinions girls!

What about if you had a webcam set up for the bday party (the actual bday) that way the gparents could still see her on her first bday! I know it's not the same...but it's an idea.

Now that I think about it, I don't think it's a good idea to "intrude" on the wedding weekend. If the baby's bday was on the actual weekend then yes...set out a small amount of time for her. But since it is a few weeks apart I would pass on it.

On another note...OMG Kathy. I thought that was a pic of 2 towels & I was thinking wtf.gif why does she have a pic of 2 towels!!! HAHAHAHA How cute!!

I did 2 lol and only looked again when I saw your post lmao

If they aren't bothered do it early on a morning, you never know they might be glad of the distraction. I sure as hell would be lol

I mean how pissed off can you get about your niece's 1st birthday you'd have to be pretty shallow to be naffed off by it lol

I bet they wouldn't care if it was like friday afternoon or something. When they don't have anything planned. I would talk to them though and see what they think. I think making it an Averys birthday party/rehearsal dinner is a bad idea however. That would be imposing.... well to me anyway. But if you did just a little get together thing in the morning or afternoon I don't see anybody saying anything bad about it.

If you could do it afterwards, it'd probably be better and less choatic for everyone though.

PS. Time sure does fly. It's insane how quickly that year goes.
i was going to respond with exactly this, so Jessica saved me the trouble! honestly, i don't think it's any big deal, but i know there are some out there that would. i just wasn't one of those brides where it all had to be about me. so, i'd have LOVED some of the attention being taken away from me, and being about little Avery. but again, i might be in the minority.

this seems perfect to me. do you think you'd be able to tell if they really are ok with you having the bday party? i'm sure the extended family would LOVE to be there for it!

or, do you know when people are leaving? would a Monday AM brunch work?

thanks so much for your honest opinions girls. I was such an easy bride and it seems like it was so long ago that its good to get recent brides opinions.

so i called my FSIL and she was so gracious. I told her that the wedding the absolute priority and that should be the main focus of the weekend but if she had any spare time (just an hour or so) that I would like to have a really small gathering to celebrate Averys birthday with her family while they are in town. She said she absoultey would not mind and actually appreicates having someone else plan an event for the weekend!

i told her to talk to my BIL and to think it through and make sure its not imposing.

if they give me the OK I am going to keep in really causal. Im not going to do invites- just word of mouth. and we will have it in the hotel- my MIL has a suite with a large main room so we will just do that. i will make it like a "simply sweet" theme and do just desserts- but keep it super simple so that people can come and go and so that its not such a big "event."

thanks again for your input ladies!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
