Flights to Punta Cana

Recommended Posts

Oh yeah, definitely you need to wait. Our wedding was in April and we started booking flights in June - which is when we got the best prices as well. So, just keep monitoring the flights. What airlines are you looking at? We had guests use US Airways, Delta, USA3000, and Spirit.

I live in Chicago too, and the only airline that flies direct to Punta Cana is USA3000. But currently, they only fly out on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Most of my guests are taking connecting flights through Delta or Spirit which include a very short layover, about an hour or so. Thankfully, no one's been stuck with an overnight flight. I would definitely check out the timetables at Delta, Spirit, and USA3000. You should be able to avoid the red-eyes altogether.

Hope this helps!

Yeah your only option for a direct flight from Chicago is USA3000. We went to Punta Cana in August and December last year and ended up with a layover each time because it was like $300-400 more to fly direct on USA3000. We didn't have more then an hour layover on the way there and then like 2 on the way home because you have to go through customs. Both times we ended up either just making our connections or running our butts off to get there because of delays but we never missed any of our flights. In December we flew US Airways and we had to pay the $15 per checked bag going but coming home we didn't have to pay it. I think the Punta Cana airport wasn't updated enough to be able to do that. Also in case your travel agent hasn't told you there is a $20 per person entrance fee when you get off the airplane. This needs to be paid in cash.

Same with us - our wedding is in August and we booked our flight (direct from Philly) in October. Okay price, although better prices could be had from Newark and Baltimore. I am hoping they go down, for our guests!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
