Finisterra reviews?

Hi

Has anyone here done the deed at Finisterra? I searched for threads and found a bad link to jengonda's review.

 

Based on the site, it seems like they don't do packages, so much as it's ala carte... which we prefer since we don't need music and tons of other stuff, it's just us doing a symbolic thing on the beach. All we need is someone to perform the ceremony, a bouquet and a huppa; we'll bring the rest.

I am also getting married at the Finisterra in June 2009, finally started planning last week!! If you have any questions feel free to ask. I have a lot of information on the Hotel and pictures, they also have an onsite coordinator. SSTOTZ will be getting married there the week after me, and she has been so helpful in my research!!

Thanks for digging up that review. I did read it, but my main query remains, as her review didn't really address it. They don't advertise packages on the Finisterra site, so is it a pick and choose situation? That would be ideal for us as it's just us two doing a symbolic thing, so we don't need 90% of the typical wedding stuff... no music/food etc etc. A wee bit of flowers for bouqets and such would do it,.plus a huppa and a person to perform the ceremony. We'll just hit up a nice restaurant after on our own.

Yes!! It is for the most part all pick and choose!! They give you a whole bunch of info, and you can take pretty much anything you want out of it.. The only thing you can not do is use anyone else for your food and bev.. oh--and flowers.. but if you have ideas for anything, they do a great job catering to you.

 

I am on a very small budget because we are paying for this ourselves, so the WC is great with our ideas (i.e. we are bringing our own officiant down to make it more personal..and to not pay those fees--we'll get married here at a courthouse to make it legal, we're doing a cupcake cake to save on cutting fees, we're getting our own photographer,..etc..) Let me know if you need help getting in contact with the people!

Actually if you could point me in the right direction, that would be a tremendous help! We're doing a similar thing, courthouse here in the States and then symbolic down there.

Did you mean you have to use their florist? We likely would anyway, since we aren't going to bring anything in on ice from the States lol I suppose we'll use their food people, we should have some booze on hand I guess. Did you have to use them for the cake too?

Bali83, what kind of information were you looking for? I'm chose my own photographer, videographer, florist, DJ, officiant, mariachi, and stylist from cabo to go to the Finisterra. You can not bring in your own food, bev, or cake.

 

I have pictures of the Hotel if you are interested, better than there own website. I love the location of the Hotel too, walking distance to the Marina and downtown! I've done most of my own research, primarily through the help of all the wonderful ladies on this site, and then just email the on-site coordinator with questions.

Sorry about all the questions...I'm just starting the planning & just started looking into the Finisterra. Thanks!!

I will email you some pictures right now...for now, I am staying in the new Palapa Beach Section. I'm actually a timeshare holder so the rooms come with a kitchen as well. You can find some good deals on those websites where people try to rent their week, and you can save on some money by making a few meals in your room. The Hotel also offers a discount rate in the new section for your wedding group, but those do not have kitchens.

 

I decided to have the actual wedding on the beach, but I might change my mind to the garden area, I think I'll decide when I get there. I wrote on my itinerary to just listen for the Mariachi! haha, I hope that works. Both of the locations look really nice.

 

The reception will be in their palapita events center. It overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is somewhat open, so it feels like you are outside but you have the AC.
