Do I have to pay for my 2 yr old to stay on the Resort?

Recommended Posts

My aunt checked into the price of taking her kids. Aged six, eight and nine. I remember her saying that it was nearly the price of an adult rate, and the five of them would stay in one standard room! Something tells me it was $1300 for a child vs. $1900 for an adult (from where I live I mean). It would probably be different for a toddler though...

I was so curious to see what the actual rates were, that I went to their website & did this. Went to Riu's site, picked ROR with dates of 5/14/09 to 5/18/09, 5 days/4 nights.
I put in 2 adults & 1 child under age 2.
These were the rates:

1 Double standard, bathroom, partial sea view, balcony or terrace
5/14/09 -5/18/09
4 Night/s x 2 Adults x 155.00 USD = 1,240.00 USD
5/14/09 -5/18/09
4 Night/s x 1 Baby x 0.00 USD = 0.00 USD
Total cost = 1,240.00 USD

I then did the same thing, using the same dates & room type, with 2 adults & 1 child age 2. hese were those rates, which you will see the charge for that child is $77.50 per night:

5/14/09 -5/18/09 4 Night/s x 1 Children (2 years) x 77.50 USD = 310.00 USD
Total cost = 1,550.00 USD

Lastly, just to be thorough, I changed the age of the child to 10 years old, and I got the same rate of $77.50 per night:

Check out: 5/18/09

5/14/09 -5/18/09 4 Night/s x 1 Children (10 years ) x 77.50 USD = 310.00 USD

Total cost = 1,550.00 USD

So going by their site, any child 2 to 12, should pay $77.50 per night. A child over 12 is considered an adult & would pay the adult rate.
Also, according to their site, and to what I was told for my wedding, the maximum capacity per room is 3. The website would only allow me to choose a total of 3 in one room. I don't know how that works if you're more than a family of 3.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
