WC Question

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been reading and searching over the threads but I still need some help. I've been reaching out to WC in PV but have only heard back from one so far-- Vallarta Wedd. Has anyone worked with them? I thought that they were Vallarta Weddings until tonight when I saw on a previous thread that the names of the coordinators didn't match up-- weird way to figure out that there are two WC's with similar company names.

Anyways, would you all be willing to give me your thoughts? Also, this may sound silly but what were some important things you felt needed to be asked before selecting someone. I want to make sure I'm completely prepared but to be honest I just feel completely confused about this whole destination wedding thing. huh02.gif

One more question: about how far out did you start planning and looking for a planner? My FI and I are hoping for an October 2009 wedding but I'm worried now that I'm already starting too late! I never would've thought 10 months would be too late for a destination wedding but I'm getting that feeling. Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it!

HI

I am currently working with Vallarta Wedd Planners and Johanna is helping me plan my wedding. They have been great. They are pretty quick to respond. I am getting married Nov 09. I think you are ok to start planning now. At first I was not going to go with a planner but I was having such a hard time getting in contact with hotel and I was not planning on going to PV to do a site visit. I emailed a bunch of the WC and Vallarta Wedd Planners got back to me quickly and was willing to plan with me right away. Others told me I was to early and they did not have their calenders ready yet. I don't know of anyone on this site that has used them. But I have had a great experiance so far. I highly recommend them. Have you talk to them yet? let me know if there is anything I can help you with

Don’t worry, WindyCityGirl, you aren't too late, but do book soon. I think I booked around this time last year for my September wedding, and I know a few of the dates I was considering were taken by the big wedding coordinators.

My best advice for researching a coordinator is talking to them. I set up interviews with each of the ones I was interested and assessed how easier I thought they would be to work with and how compatible we were personality wise.

I think part of the confusion with Vallarta Weddings is there may be several coordinating companies with that name. I went with Eva and Michael from Vallarta Weddings (Vallarta weddings). They are a husband and wife pair, and the only ones that work at that company. But I do seem to remember there were some other coordinators with similar company names.

I LOVED Eva and Michael, and they are sort of the underdogs of PV Wedding coordination as they are not as well known, so you’ll have an easier time booking with them. You can check out my review here:

And a review from another bride that used them here:

I think you really can’t go wrong with this coordinator, but definitely send an email or set up a phone interview so you can get your own feel of them.

Best of luck!!

Jessica

I had very quick responses from Kristin at Dazzling Details. I thought she was wonderful and very willing to work with us on our budget. And her prices, I thought, were very reasonable. Unfortunately, our budget was just too tight for anything extra, but from my interactions with her and seeing her work, I would try and contact here again (if you already have).

I am working with Eva and Michael of Vallarta Weddings too for my Sept 26 wedding. I met with her last month, she is fantastic. I had saw a bunch of reviews on how great they were and my food & bev coordinator at my hotel recommended them too. I feel five million times better about the wedding after talking with her. I guess some would describe me as a bit demanding but I think it is more I just know what I want and I have complete confidence in Eva. And they are very reasonably priced too. PM me if you want more specific info

We chose Playa Fiesta for our wedding, and Lindsay does all the coordinating there (she's soooper!). But we took a scouting trip down in November and the coordinators we would have chosen for the other venue we considered were Hector and Priscilla (of Prisar Events) - they were also really great and I think they would have gone above and beyond for us. They were pretty quick at responding to us. They are transplants from Mexico City (I believe) and they definitely were willing to work with us. I pm'd some other BD brides from the forum, and a number of them told us Hector and Priscilla actually gave them money back after the wedding (which they also mentioned to us as a possibility, when quoting an ungodly loooooow number for booze!). I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

I think in deciding a coordinator, it's important to first lay out what you want them to do and what you expect. I wanted a relatively simple wedding and was really excited about contributing some DIY, so Dazzling Details wasn't a fit; we e-mailed back and forth a bit and I got the impression that because they are so detail oriented, it's best if you're a pretty hands off bride (correct me if I'm wrong?!). I also think, once you start talking to some of them, you will be able to tell pretty quick if you click with someone - you want the coordinator to reduce stress, not cause it! Just my 2cents! Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
