We are having about 50 people at our wedding in Riviera Maya, maybe even a few more... We were not expecting this many people to come, but we are reallly excited that we got such a huge turnout!!! Anyway, originally, we were going to make OOT bags, but I fear that with 50-60 people, we do not have enough money to do that. And plus, how the heck would i give everything to everyone
Does anyone have any ideas of a nice, cool, or unique affordable favor to give to our guests... I think it might be tacky to not give anything... Any ideas??

I was looking at the envirosax. They are reusable grocery bags in relly cute , fun and tropical patterns. The alos zip down onto itself for handy transprt and cute to hand out to guests.

One site had sets of 3 you could buy and then 15 % off and they were like $5 each, not sure if that is too much.
Envirosax Shopping Bags - Pouch of 5 Bags : outdoorbalance.com - where balance is in style!

I also saw a cute idea on the forum to place maracas at the table with a little tag that said to shake it for the bride and groom to kiss, instead of tapping the glass.
They had mini maracas on the OTC website , I think 12 for $15?

Wedding Favors - Unique Wedding Favors - Cheap Wedding Party Favors -they have the best priced favors on the internet IMO
Party supplies, crafts, party decorations, toys: Oriental Trading -really good prices as well

I am planning to have around 50 come to my DW too (if they all book that is another thing!), so I have scoured the internet for good prices to keep costs down.

Do you think maybe we should buy a favor when we are down there?? (i.e. maracas or something?) and then put a ribbon and tag on it with our names and the date??

That is a really cute idea! I am buying everything before I go because knowing my luck I will go to Mexico and not find any maracas when I get there! I love your idea though about putting the ribbon and names and date. I hope you don't mind if I copy it...

Haha... do ittt! As I was looking at the websites you posted, I began to realize that I would have to tote everything down there. I don't trust shipping things, you can never trust what will happen to your stuff, I have experienced that before. So, I am thinking that will be a cute idea, since I think it will be more authentic to give people something from down there... OMG, and I just realized, we are getting married like a month before you... so, we will most likely go in to Playa Del Carmen to go shopping... I can let you know some good stores and the price of some of the things so then you will have an idea... or anything else!!

We're looking at about 40 people attending our wedding in October. We initally wanted to do OOT bags, but after many discussions, we have opted against them.

Were were looking at $20-$30 dollars per bag when all was said and done, and realized that many of the items we were looking to put in the bags were not going to be used by our guests anyway. Also, we had no idea how were were going to transport some of the bags down to Cuba, as we have a number of guests that are travelling from outside of the province and outside of the country, so giving them all out beforehand was not really an option.

FH and I have decided, in lieu of OOT bags, we are doing travel mugs (because I think they are a fabulous idea, and our guests will definitly get a lot of use out of them) and we will be making a donation to 2 charities.

I too think mini cigars for those that smoke, mini rum bottles or an authentic sweet known in Mexico. For instance, for a Jamaican wedding, a bride once did a delectable Jamaican treat, rum/black cake as well as a coconut dessert nively wrapped in a beautiful favor/gable box.

Yes! Please let me know Joanna!! Thanks so much! I know that dragging all our favors there will be a pain in the a$$, especially with all the baggage weight fees.
