New in town!!

VA-bride

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies, I just found this site yesterday and it's amazing all the info I have found. My name is Sandra and reside in Northern Virginia. I am semi-engaged if that makes sense. I got a promise ring a couple of weeks ago and I'm rather confused. Does this mean I am engaged? How do I present this info to my family and friends? Anyway, he said the engagement ring is coming and wanted us to shop together but I would rather for him to do it on his own. Whatever he gives me would be perfect. We want to get married in Puerto Vallarta on May 2008. It's too early to know a specific date.

I heard that Puerto Vallarta's beaches are very rocky, and do not have smooth sand is that true?smile159.gif

Hey, welcome to the forum!!! smile159.gif

That is a bit of a confusing situation! I went "hint shopping" with my FI before he proposed. Maybe just give him a sort of guideline so he's less nervous about picking out the "wrong ring" - even though we all know they always do a great job. e.g. "I like white gold, it's so pretty!!" - there instantly narrowed down. lol. I know my FI was pretty nervous about picking out the wrong ring and he did a great job!!

As for PV, I don't know too much. sad.gif Sorry. But welcome to the forum anyways!!! cheesy.gif

Lucky Gal! I would go ahead and use the opportunity he's given you to pick out your engagement ring. I understand you still want the element of surprise but will you really like *anything* he picks out? Give him a break; take some of the stress out of the shopping experience for him. Try on a ton of styles, pick out a few favorite bands, then he can go back at his leisure, select one of your pre-selected bands, then buy the stone of his choice and budget. This way you'll both be happy with the choice (and you'll still get an element of surprise.) I selected my band post-engagement and there were quite a few styles I liked that just did not look right on my finger (this was all part of his plan, me picking out my own band.)

Welcome! I'm a PV bride as well ... let us know if we can help!

As for the ring shopping - that's a tough one. I'd say, like the other girls said, give him some hints. Maybe even circle a few pictures in magazines so he gets some ideas. Or you could even tell him just to buy a diamond and a temporary, plain setting - then propose. Then you can both go back to the store together and pick out a permanent setting. I think a lot of jewelers will do that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
