Cape Cod? Eastern Long Island? Newport?

Well, we had been thinking about Mexico or the Carribean, but given state of affairs, might stay closer to home (which is New York). We love New England, so thinking possible Cape Cod, which has a "destination" feel to it, in some regards. Or maybe eastern Long Island or anywhere coastal between NY and Boston. One of the reasons I wanted a destination wedding is to cut down on the details and planning (and cost!) which I just don't want to deal with. How can I get those benefits and still stay stateside?

Suggestions?

Thanks ladies!

I LOVE the Cape.. My MOH has a cottage up in Truro, and before the whole destination wedding, I always wanted to get married there. On Corn Hill, there is a deck that looks out over the sunset (it is basically on a cliff over the bay) and it is amazing.. I think that is a great idea!!! I reccomend Truro!!

Hi- I've been absent for quite a while but I've made my way back. :) Very long story short, we ended up looking at the Cape but wound up booking in Newport. We found a beautiful place on Newport Harbor. Not on the beach, but on the water. I've got tons of info on the Cape and Newport so if you have any specific questions, let me know.

Hi Again!

Truro looks beautiful... any suggestions on where to go there for ceremony (non-church) and reception? Any other places lower on the Cape (closer to mainland)?

Kate- I love Newport, and it is the perfect distance from New York and Boston (we have family in both). Can you post some more information on where you decided on going? I will private message you as well.

Thank you!

Terra

Yes when we used to go during the summer time, we would see gorgreous wedding in Edgartown (my 1st choice), and further out in West Tisbury or Gay Island. There are beautiful Lighthouses, the scenery and greenery, the beach--OMG it would be great! MV was a consideration for us but since we were both Jamaican we decided to go back home. I wish you well with your planning

The vineyards out in the Hamtpons are beautiful!

As for your other question - keeping the guest list down will keep the cost down. Unfortunately, the problem with at home weddings is more people want to go since the commitment to attend is not nearly as great as with a destination wedding. The number of attendees drive up the cost BIG TIME! If you can keep the numbers down, you'll keep the costs down too =0)

Hi Jennifer--

Yes, you are right. I went to a wedding at Raphael, one of the vineyards on Eastern L.I. this year. It was very pretty. But since my FI's cousin just did that, we don't want to copy-- you know what I mean? Maybe that's being juvenile! I just want a unique experience.

I was also thinking about the numbers game. If we go to an island or to Mexico, maybe 15 people will come. If we stay close to NY, we're looking at 100. Ugh! Tricky!

I am going to Secrets Maroma in Mexico with my honey in 2 weeks, maybe we will get inspired to return to Mexico next year for a wedding. :)

Thanks! And to the other ladies out there-- please keep East Coast ideas coming! I am finding your thoughts and ideas SO helpful, as I am sure will brides to come who want to plan for this region.

Thank you!

Terra

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
