I thought I would share this with Melissa and any other bride planning a fun AHR. We had a Mexican Fiesta for my 21st B-day and had a blast! I made all the tissue paper strings (at night, you can't tell what a horrible job i did!). We also strung colored bulbs throughout the yard. My brother and I made the taco stand which was actually used. We hired ppl to come make tacos and my mom made tamales and pozole too. As our table settings, we found cheap knit fabric as tableclothes. I found large coca-cola cups at the 99cents store and used them as vases and placed two sunflowers in each per table. Each table had mexican candy and a bottle of tequila.

Everyone stepped up and pitched in! We found a ton of junk in our garage and used it as decor. My parents are Mexican so we had a ton of useless stuff! My uncle even found a rooster and chicken which we placed on top of a hey stack by the portapotty we rented!

I know what you mean, but if you purchase the masa or dough already made, all you have to do is make the filling and steam them.

Thanks ladies! We def had a blast.

Melissa- I'm sure we had more than 100ppl that night. You can't tell from the pics but it was crowded. I think you may have to open up your house for guests if you feel that you can't fit 150!

Anny- Its my mom's dream to open a "cenaduria" (sp??). She was really tempeted to leave all the decorations up! haha!

by the way, we had so much fun finding things to decorate with. You can't tell from the pic, but my dad had a weelbarrow which was falling apart. he was ready to throw it out, but we lined it with thick black plastic, filled it with ice and stuck a ton of corona's in there at the entrance of the yard!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
