Ana y Jose Tulum Brides Post Here

Recommended Posts

I wanted to post a few more photographs of inspiration for TULUM... really, we love it!    The vibe of tulum is something one must actually FEEL in person before being able to truly understand or visualize it virtually.

Ana Y Jose event posted on the del Sol blog: http://www.delsolphotography.com/blog/post-976/Lisa-Reed-Ana-y-Jose-Tulum-Photos-by-Matt-Adcock

I must admit that having a mayan or cosmic ceremony RULES, just so many more moments, people interacting, laughs, and PURE FUN....  Take a risk on this one :)

I absolutely love your pictures! Thanks so much for sharing. I am new to this forum but have been reading up a lot on Ana y José because we just booked our date about a month ago. We are getting married on May 12, 2012!!! YAY :) I have never been to Tulum but have heard nothing but wonderful things about it. Ana y José was recommended to me by an old boss of mine who got married there about 3 years ago. Although we've heard great things, it's still a bit nerve wrecking to plan such a memorable event from thousands of miles away! Luckily, I really have faith in Jackie as I'm sure she's been doing this for several years and has seen it all.

If you have any recommendations for me, anything to keep in mind....I would greatly appreciate it. I am sending out my Save the Dates this week! YAY!

Did the brides stay at Ana y José the night before the wedding? Did you get a hair & make-up artist there or do it yourself?

Did anyone plan a "Welcome Dinner" for your guests? If so, where did you host it and was it inexpensive? I was thinking like Fajitas and Margaritas on Friday evening...any suggestions, roughly 50-60 guests?

I look forward to sharing more stories on here and getting help from previous brides! YAY :)

Thanks,
Marcela

Ditto on the pictures, they look amazing.  Can anyone currently working with Ana y Jose tell me how it is going (Marcela or anyone)?  I just got engaged and am considering Ana y Jose as a venue, but there do not seem to be a lot of recent reviews, and I read a very negative review on TripAdvisor mentioning new, rude management and rapidly inflating prices.  Any up-to-date info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We just booked Ana y Jose Beach Club for June 2013!  Happy to share some up-to-date information.

We looked at lots of places in Tulum (Las Ranitas, La Zebra, Playa Azul, and Le Reve) as well as Tensing Pen in Negril Jamaica and Half Moon in Montego Bay Jamaica.  Ana y Jose Beach Club won out for three reasons:

1) It's a beach club, not a hotel, so our guests can stay wherever they want.  This was a big deal for us, as our guests have a wide range of financial situations, and we wanted to leave accommodations open so everyone can choose a place they're comfortable with.  All the hotels (including Ana y Jose hotel) had strict minimums for number of rooms and nights booked.

2) Great wedding reviews on this site and TripAdvisor, and great responsiveness from Jackie.  I feel like I'm in the hands of a professional.  Some of the other resorts didn't get back to me until I emailed them twice, and then not until over a week later.

3) Reasonable prices.  Based on the prices that Jackie sent me, dinner will run about $50 per person and open bar is $9-$15 per person per hour, depending on how many premium brands you have.  This was at the low end of the other quotes we received.  There are no mandatory fees, but if you want to book up the whole property it's $4000 and if you want wedding coordination it's $2000.  They have their own DJs, photographers, florists, and officiants that they recommend, but you are also free to bring whatever vendor you like at no extra cost.  Now, I'm probably going to use their wedding coordinator and DJ, but I really appreciated that it was optional.  They won lots of brownie points from me with the flexibility. :)

Thanks for posting, this is helpful!  We are doing our site visits in a couple weeks, and are looking at Ana y Jose, Las Ranitas, and Cabanas Tulum.  We have tried to contact Ak'iin Beach Club, but no one has responded to us.  I have the same concern you had about the room situation -- namely that I want people to be able to pick a place that fits their needs and budget, without worrying about meeting some quota.  The menu at Las Ranitas sounds so awesome, though!  I guess we will just have to see when we are down there.  Our guest list has ballooned to 200 now, too, so that may be a constraint.

Keep us updated on how the planning goes!

Let me know how the site visits go!  Would love to hear what the places in Tulum look like in person.  We're not going to get a chance to visit until the summer, but we're already decided, so our visit will be more for menu tasting and scuba diving. :)

P.S. FYI — I also looked into Cabanas Tulum as one possible place for our guests to stay.  They offered me a 10% group discount from their rack rates with a 3 night minimum.  It also seems like they recently did a very nice upgrade of their rooms, so older reviews / photos on Tripadvisor may not be accurate.

Jello, do you have Jackie's email address?  I emailed weddings@anayjose.com and they sent me some basic info right away, but I emailed a follow-up question 10 days ago and never heard back, then I emailed again 5 days ago to schedule a tasting and sent another follow-up 2 days ago, but still have not heard anything.  I'm starting to think this is a bad sign...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
