HELP! I have 2 dresses....

Recommended Posts

So many of you know that I purchased a dress a few months ago. I actually posted a few of my options and had you ladies pick which looked best. Here is a picture of me in the dress I bought.

BUT the other day I was looking at nordstrom.com and found this dress that I thought is really pretty too and in a moment of weekness I ordered it!

The nordstroms dress came in the mail yesterday and it is really nice! I always wished I could pull off a dress like this - more form fitting and sexy - but it isn't like anything I have every worn before. I am a bigger girl - size 12 or 14 and vertically challenged (only 5' 3".) But I have been working out and have lost a few inches / pounds and thanks to the sphanx under the gown I am pleased to say it looked good.

WHY DO WE DO THIS TO OURSELVES? Know I don't know what to do! I just don't want people to be totally shocked or think I look terrable or slutty in my gown.

I am going to try both dresses on for my aunt on Tuesday and i will have her take pictures of me in the second one for you ladies to see. I know it is hard to give your feedback with out real pictures to compair but I needed to vent to someone who would understand my delema!

I think both dresses are very pretty. I still really like the first one, but the second one is more DW (IMO) Oh I can't wait to see the pictures.. And good for you for loosing some weight. I say wear whatever dress makes you feel the best in. :-)

I actually like #2 better but I agree with Tammy. Wear what makes you feel beautiful and comfortable :)

and SPANX rock the discotech. I also highly recommend enrolling in a bootcamp program if you are looking to lose inches/lbs quickly before the wedding wink.gif

I love them both.. I'm the same size and I wouldn't even look at dresses like #2.. I have too many lumps and bumps (although with spanx you never know).. I think I would be too self conscious with something so fitting.

You look great in the 1st one.. can't wait to see how you look in the 2nd. It is more "destination wedding". I don't anyone would think any bride looked slutty.. you're going to glow!!

Sarah~ I think you look fabulous in the 1st dress and I agree with the other ladies, wear the one you feel most comfortable in. You know if you post a pic of you in the second dress, we'll tell you which of the two we like the best. :) .....good luck with your decision!!

I can't wait to see you in the second one. It looks beautiful! In my opinion I'd go with the second one - it's more DW weddingish.

I like the first one as well, but it looks more formal. I guess it depends on what look you'd prefer rolleyes.gif

I think you look really lovely in that first dress, Sarah. I agree, it's not a DW dress like the other one, but that doesn't really matter if it's the one you really love. I too have seen that dress on the Nordstrom's website and liked it a lot - so I understand your weakness lol. Definately post pictures of the second dress when you try it on. But the key is the one that you really want to wear on your day.

OMG--- I *never, ever, ever* would have pegged you a 12/14 with the height you listed!!! You look *amazing* in the first dress! It gives you a great shape and accentuates your waist in a really good way!! And when I saw the reflection of you in the mirror, you look like a body building/trainer!

I love dress 2. If you tried it on and liked it, GO FOR IT! I know what you're talking about---- seeing a dress, wishing you could pull it off, settling for something else that still looks good---- don't do it for your wedding day! If you tried on 2 and like it, wear it because you'll look back and think "wow, I looked awesome on my wedding day!"

If you're crediting SPHANX with that, someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me what/where to get this product!!!!

Sarah it's really hard for me to pick between the two without being able to see the second one on you. I agree with the other girls that the second dress looks more like a DW dress, but my dress looks nothing like a DW dress, and many other girls on here have formal dresses. That being said- wear what you like the best and what makes you feel the most beautiful. I think the first dress looks stunning on you. I never would have guessed what size you wear based on that photo. When was that photo taken? You are looking good- boot camp is working!

Sarah-

The first dress is GORGEOUS on you! I think it will look great for a DW wedding! It is very flattering, and you definitely seem comfortable in it.

With that being said, I also love the second dress. When you post the pics, we'll give you our honest opinions...but sometimes I think you just have to go with your "gut"...and don't ask anyone else's opinion. I got caught in the trap of asking too many opinions. It wasn't until I went back to the bridal shop by myself that I was really able to figure out what I liked best.

Good Luck :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
