Should I take this personally?

When my DH and I went to pick out our rings, the jeweler sized his finger and that was the size I ordered. Well, on our wedding day, he started complaining about it being to tight. We were married 9/19/08 and he had shoulder surgery on 10/31/08 and was unable to wear his ring due to swelling in his hand. Ok, so now the swelling is gone and he is still complaining about the ring being to tight. Mind you, he hasn't even been wearing it since the wedding. I suggested getting it sized and we took it to the jewelery store only to find out it can't be size because it is titanium. We will have to buy another ring! I am upset because I don't think the ring is to tight on his finger. He can get it over his knuckle without a problem. wtf.gif am I just being picky or does he just not want to wear it? He just seems to take it so lightly and I think it is important.

My FI has always said that he doesn't want to wear a ring because he doesn't wear jewelry. I told him that I want him to wear it because.... well he should wear it! Anyway, I just think he needs to get used to it. I worked with a guy who had never had a wedding ring and on their ten year anniversary they went and got him one. He played with it all the time because he wasn't used to it. I just think your husband needs to try to wear it for awhile and see if he gets used to it. If it goes over the knuckle okay and is looser once it's on then he should be okay. I cant believe that your jeweler didn't tell you that it couldn't be sized when you bought it. A lot of the companies that sell the titanium bands will let you exchange for a different size but you have to pay for shipping and stuff like that. You should find out what the manufacturer offers. You might have to deal directly with the manufacturer.

I don't think you should take it personally. I can believe that below the knuckle on some men is thicker than on others.. and maybe when he initially tried it on it felt ok but putting it on for a couple of seconds/minutes is different than wearing it 24/7. That being said I would certainly feel the same way you do and would want my FI to wear his ring all the time.

Since you can't resize the ring you have - do you think you can sell it on ebay or craigslist and buy a new ring in the right size so he would wear it?

I don't know what your DH hands look like, but he might be telling the truth about the tightness. I know on my hands that it could slide over the knuckle and fits ok on the finger, but then after a few minutes when that finger starts to tingle and turn purple, I'm looking for the margarine tub to get that sucker off!

At least you still have the ring. A friend's DH lost his wedding band a week after their wedding (that was 18 years ago) and they never did replace it.

Maybe you could try selling the titanium band and get your DH another band, or even better, get something fancy for yourself!

Titanium rings can be resized, it's just they are very difficult to do it. I would look around to find a specialized goldsmith in your city who can do it. It depends on the quality and grade of the titanium. It might, however, be cheaper to buy a new ring and have the old one melted down into a pendant or something for your hubby.

I wouldn't take it personally, but I'd sure do what I could to make sure that he found one he could wear! Maybe it's too wide of a band? Maybe he just needs to get used to it?

I don't know, but I love looking at my husbands hand and seeing that ring there. It's a visual reminder of our wedding day and it actually turns me on! Don't repeat that though. Hahahaaaa

I agree with the majority... don't take it personally (even though I can see how it would be hard not too).

I would try to sell his current ring and get him a new one in the correct size. If he doesn't wear it even after you get him a new one; then it's time to glue it to his finger or have a talk with him about it.

I would not take offense because it is true that for various reasons and onany given day---rings can be loose or squeeze the life out of you. I gues because I am not big on jewelry that it does not really matter if he wears one or not. I don't even wear my engagement ring every day--because one its a half size big and two--I am not used to it.

Seems like he may have gotten it too small but not sure why the jewwer did nto mention any challenges with the Titanium.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
