Am I not seeing the big picture?

ok so I was so excited when my FI and I decided to do a destination wedding and it has been great and we have had so much fun, making the invites and picking the place.

So now the invites are out and people are starting to rsvp and some people I really thought would come aren't. I know that it is a big finacial undertaking to come, and my emotions are running the spectrum. I go from panicing that too many people will come to no one is going to come.

Am I going crazy or does anyone else go through this? and how did you calm your nerves?

Welcome to the wonderful world of DW planning! I fine wine does a great job of calming me down. And the support of BDW is great therapy!

There will be people who you think will be there that won't and then some others will surprise you. The most important thing to ALWAYS remember is that you need to do what is best for you and your fiance. Planning will have its ups and downs. Your family and friends will make you cry tears of joy and sadness. In the end, you need to be comfortable with your decision and focus on your wonderful day and the fact that you are joining your life with the person you love. We've all been through it!

Gook luck! hug2.gif

I know you want them to be there....but all you need is you and your FI....and well the person marrying you....but a DW is what the two of YOU wanted...not what everybody else wanted. I see it as a beautiful wedding with the bonus of going on vacation...they may see it as a finiancial burdon. Who knows the story of why they aren't coming. Maybe there is something going on right now and they just can't afford it. When my FI and I decided to do a DW we decided to keep it in the states (coast of GA) because I wanted my sister to be there and I know that she wouldn't have been able to be there if it was out of the country. She's got a big family so it would be hard for her. Just remember you have us for support and we will help you get through these bumps.

Good Luck,

~Samie~

I agree with this totally.... don't let it get you down... it's all about getting there and being with your hubby to be. I had a huge breakdown when 2 of my girls backed out of coming.. one still I have even talked with since her decision to not even tell me and the travel agent let me know.

Planning a DW is always a roller coaster ride... Just enjoy it!

I had 13 people come and I couldn't have cared less once we got down to Jamaica bout the other people... It was perfect!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
