My father passed away New Years Eve

Recommended Posts

My father passed away New Years Eve. He was diagnosed with Parkinsons 12 years ago. He has been really sick since August. I knew he wasn't going to be able to come to the wedding because he has been in a nursing home since Aug. but it is still really sad to know he will not be able to walk me down the aisle. sad.gif

But I did get my dance on Thanksgiving!!!

That is so awful Geralyn. My deepest sympathies. It is so hard knowing that someone you love will not be with you on one of the most important days of your life - but take strength in knowing that he will always be looking in on you & making sure you are ok! I feel my step-father with me all the time! I also have included him in our wedding week by adding a memorial page to our welcome books.

I wanted to honor him in some way that wouldn't upset my mom anymore than she already would be on the wedding day - I thought the memorial page was a nice way to do it. And for only me, I have a memory frame with his picture in it to attach to my bouquet. Here is a picture of it...

Take care & be strong. And if you can't be strong then just know your friends at BDW are here for you...to cry to, to vent, to scream...anything!

I'm so sorry to hear about your father. FI's father was diagnosed with leukemia last June and passed away in September. It's not easy. Just know that it's OK to cry, whether it's 10 minutes or 10 years from now. We're all here for you. This forum was wonderful with helping me through the passings in my family last year.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
