Florida Keys?

Christine

Recommended Posts

So my FI got finally got a new job that pays a little more and we were thinking that we might actually be able to go on a honeymoon now.

Here's our thoughts-

1. we already have tickets on Air Jamaica (which flies all over the carribean)

2. we only have about 5-6 days

3. we would need to fly from CA to our honeymoon location then back to DC

4. we haven't gotten our passports, so probably might need to stay in the states

so based on those things we were thinking about the Florida Keys,

basically we something

relaxing

all inclusive (if that exsists in the keys)

affordable

romantic

anyone know of anything?

I have yet to find any AI resorts in the Keys. We had looked into getting married there so it would be less expensive for our guests. If you don't want to mess with passports, maybe look into St. Thomas. There are some low cost local hotels (non-AI), as well as AI resorts for several budget ranges. I have some great recommendations for honeymoon restaurants and stuff too, so let me know if you guys wind up getting interested in USVI...

What better way to spend your vacation than in the epitome of romance – Little Palm Island. Upon arriving at Key West Airport, our car will greet you and bring you to the resort. After the motor yacht ride to the Island you will be shown to your private bungalow. Before you unpack, uncork the bottle of champagne and celebrate the beginning of a special vacation. Bask in the luxury of your suite with its fine furnishings, king size bed, private outdoor shower and veranda overlooking the ocean. Delight in breakfast, lunch and dinner daily artfully prepared by our Executive Chef and his culinary team. While you are away at dinner on your first evening on the Island, our staff will set up our Romance Begins When… Turndown service which includes candles throughout your suite, a chilled bottle of Taittinger Champagne, 6 chocolate covered strawberries, a hot steaming bath with rose petals and SpaTerre body oils. A trip to the Florida Keys would not be complete without a snorkel trip to explore the sparkling waters enveloping Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary. If something a bit more self indulgent is your idea of bliss, SpaTerre is the perfect locale for you – enjoy $200 spa credit per person. So that you can relieve the memories of your trip at home, the logo bathrobes are yours to take home.

Our package rates are priced per couple, inclusive of taxes and services. Regrettably, unused portions may not be credited or redeemed for cash and may not be combined with other discounts. Due to the exclusivity of our island, some restrictions may apply. Please call our knowledgeable and friendly reservation agents for personal assistance in booking your island escape at 1-800-3-GET-LOST (800-343-8567) for package rates and availability.

Amy that place is $1000 a night-he's not making that much more money now-but thanks

Mikki, I don't know anything about USVI but I don't think Air Jamaica flies there because its not on their route map, but I will look into it

I'm looking on expedia and they don't even have an option for "all-inclusive" for the hotels in FK. Maybe they don't exist. Hmm, I would reccomend Puerto Rico, but I think there is only 1 AI and it's pretty pricey (but not $1000 per night)

christine, like Mikki said any of the US virgin islands you don't need a passport and they're in the carribean, but I guess if they're not on the route that wouldn't be a good option.

FI & I really wanted to make a stop in the keys for a couple nights on our way back from our honeymoon, since we're going to have to fly to FL first anyway, but I don't think we'll have the money to do that too.

Nevermind Christine, I just read this on expedia:

"As of May 1, 2007, Paradisus Puerto Rico will become Gran Melia Puerto Rico. Beginning May 1, 2007, All-Inclusive rates will no longer be offered."

I was the only AI that I found in PR. And Hans and I were planning on going back to PR and staying her, that sucks!rant.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
