Am I weird or something?

I will admit it: I'm usually pretty high-strung, neat-freak, hyper-organized, borderline OCD to some. But when it comes to my wedding (June 29th, 2009), I'm being really laid-back and not stressing about it. I'm not going to be making/ordering centre-pieces, additional decors for the wedding venue, hiring outside of resort vendors, or even buying shoes for that matter... Reading this forum and seeing all the work some brides are putting into their wedding is making me wonder if I'm not stressed out/organized enough. What is important to me is that I will be marrying the most amazing man in the world. I really couldn't care less if my nails aren't perfect, my hair isn't top-model comparable or that I will be bare-foot in a relatively "cheap" wedding dress. Does that make me weird? Should I ramp it up a level and strive to be the perfect bride?

I have to agree with the post above...all that matters is that you are marrying your wonderful fiance. every bride plans differently...some go above & beyond and others take a more laid-back approach to it...me, I was somewhere in between and maybe a little close to the "laid-back" approach (lol). Neither route is the "perfect" way or the right way...stressing out does not make you the perfect bride...so to answer your question "no, i dont think you are weird at all"...As long as you are happy about your wedding day and you are marrying the right guy, thats all that matters. wink.gif

I am kind of an in between bride myself! But that's mostly because of all the great ideas I came across on BDW!! Do what matters to you and your FI - and that is all you have to/should do! Your laid back approach will leave more time for the other things in your life, like FI and work (god, I'm going to get fired soon - I just know it!!! lol)

I cant be bothered with any of it either! That's why we chose to go away and get married. My wedding dress is not expensive. Im only using the resort's photographer. I could care less about decorations (the beach/ocean are sufficient enough for me). We arent having a DJ, or doing any cake cutting, garter toss, speeches...etc. Im not doing favours or centrepieces. Much like you I have some OC tendencies in my personality and am normally a super organized, control and neat-freak. When it comes down to the wedding... I cant be bothered. Everyone has a different idea for what their wedding should be, mine is just simple. No frills. All that really matters is that my FI thinks Im the perfect bride. Dont stress, just because you want it simple.

Sloan, my wedding plan is exactly as you described yours. Thanks for your response girls, I feel better already!!! I do want it simple, it's all about "us". Now I'll feel better not stressing!!!

In addition to wedding planning, we are doing MAJOR home renovations, and I work full-time in a very stressful environment, which is why we chose to take the DW approach... It was meant to be simple, easy, and stress-free, and I'm going to continue to strive to keep it that way :-)

I'm with Sloan too. We aren't having a ton of extras or any decorations other than centrepieces. I'm not dressing up the aisle with anything or having any crazy OOT bags or anything. I think the brides that do that stuff are amazing but it's just not my thing! I can't be bothered to figure it all out. No cake cutting or garter tossing or any of that. I just want to marry my FI and have a fun party with my friends and family! I don't think you're weird at all. I think there are a lot of us on BDW but we just aren't as vocal because we don't have a lot of projects to share :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
