My Cabo Site Visit / New Years Eve Trip

Well, we are still here in Cabo until tomorrow but I wanted to post a few little reviews as everyone on this forum has been so helpful to me. So far, the trip has been amazing and the weather can't be beat. Anyway, here goes:

Volaris Airlines - A+

Volaris from Tijuana is definitely the way to go if coming from San Diego or even possibly LA. Flights were less than half the price, and it was so easy to take the Volaris bus across the border. No customs in Cabo - just right off the plane to all the fun timeshare folk ;P. I will definitely take this airline next time - plus, how do you beat free booze?!

Dreams tour with Jenny from Baja Weddings - A+++

We first walked in and met Yessica who was super sweet. Let me tell you - as everyone says, Dreams is so much better in person. We walked in, and I was amazed by the hotel and the view. It is an incredible place and we fell in love with it. It was so great to see it in person. Jenny from Baja Weddings met us there and gave us a tour of the hotel and the different reception areas. If you have booked Dreams and will not be able to see it before the wedding, have no fear - you will not be let down.

Bajia de los Suenos - A+++

We had the opportunity to fly to Casa de Los Suenos (GranSueno - at beautiful Bahia de los Suenos - Baja California Sur, Mexico) which is about a 25 minute flight from the downtown CSL airport. If driving, it is about a 2.5 hour drive. This place was amazing, and if all goes according to plan - we would love to have our wedding here. Words cannot describe this place. It is basically a resort in the middle of nowhere. I will post pics when I can - but words cannot describe how beautiful this place was. It was built as a private vacation house for a family, and they recently started letting the public stay there. I will post more details when I hear back from the wedding coordinator - but if you want a secluded spot where all your guests can just hang out together for a week - this place is great.

Our Villa - B-

Well, let me start by saying the villa we rented is beautiful although we have had some problems. The price for New Years week was about $450 a night which cannot be beat by the hotels right now (4 bedroom, 4 bath villa). It is about 1.5 miles to town and has great views. Everyone has been dissapointed by a few things though: on the ad on VRBO is Vacation Rentals By Owner, the owner said he had satellite TV, which for the guys that are with us was very important with all the football this week. We get here, and no satellite or cable TV. Also, he stated they had a BBQ, not so much. Lastly, the water has been off for 24 hours now and the girls are really getting upset - now this is beynd the owner's control, but it was just the straw that broke the camel's back...probably will not stay here again, but as I said, the price could not be beat. Off season, the rates are even better here and it is really close to town.

Passion Club at ME by Melia for NYE - A

This club is beautiful and we had a great time. Not much else to say about it, but we loved the fact that it was not too crowded which usually happens at New Years parties.

I think that is it for now. We are planning on going fishing or doing a booze cruise today. I will definitely try to post pics when I get home!

The Cascadas Terrace is right near the water - two (with a few steps in between) levels- very pretty...the Oceana Terrace is a lot bigger and more private but not right on the ocean (better for larger weddings they said though....I think there are pluses and minuses of both - but both are gorgeous!

Oh and I forgot my favorite restaurant!

El Missione de Kino was my favorite - really yummy food...I had the garlic shrimp and the octopus pasta -amazing!

Okay update on Volaris girls - DO NOT leave Mexico on Sunday. We waited to cross the border for 3 hours!!! Any other day is good they said but everyone is coming across then...plus you have to get off the shuttle bus and cross by foot with your luggage.

They told me that the Dreams new nightclub switches off with the bar near the lobby on which one is open late - so every other night it sounded like but that could be wrong?

As far as Casa de Los Suenos - they have ATV's, horsebackriding, snorkeling, booze cruises, fishing, etc. you can arrange through them - they will plan it all for you which is nice and it is very private so it will be with all of your family and friends...it definitely is an amazing place

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
