Roll back wages for RCMP

I thought I would pass this along to fellow Canadians here. I received this from my cousin in NS, he is currently a member of the RCMP in Bridgewater.

"For the last 135 years, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have been at the heart of our communities, serving Canadians and keeping us safe.

The question facing you today is what role our national police force will be able to play in addressing the key security challenges in the next chapter in our history.

Recently, the Harper government took the unprecedented step of rolling back RCMP wages. Without the resources to compete for the best and brightest new cadets and retain experienced members, the RCMP stands at a dangerous disadvantage–one that poses significant challenges for the future of Canadian public safety.

CallForBackUp.ca is a forum for ordinary Canadians, RCMP members and friends of the Mounties to stand up for public safety in Canada.

Please look around, join the discussion and take action.

Thank you for your support."

It's really unfair for the government to due such a thing to the men and women of the RCMP that help the communities and put the their lives on the line to protect citizens. They don't make enough as it is, but to actually roll the wages back is so disrepectful.

Beyond disrespectful, that is awful if they go through with that. I think it's like 43K /yr the first 2-3 yrs and 75K after, which to me that is not enough for putting your butt in the potential line of fire each and every day and end up seeing half of what they see on a daily basis. Heck, they even protect the PM on a daily basis. How easily people forget situations like Mayerthorpe when they make these decisions. I really hope this doesn't go through.

I think this wage rollback on raises or wage cap is being applied to all our federal employees here in Canada.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
