Hey Oryx!

Another Cad couple are also thinking Majestic Elegance Feb 2011! we're from Winnipeg! We are waiting for the 2011 group rates to come out to see if this will be feasible for our guests as well. Our TA said they should be out in the new year, maybe we will be there the same time!

Hey Ladies,

For those of you who don't mind a little extra work, I suggest booking with WestJet Vacations groups department. I did it for our group and got really good rates for our wedding in June... or at least I think so. It means you have to follow up with your guests when it comes time to book but it saves all the money that is wasted on TA fees.

Hey Oryx!

It will probably be in and around 2 grand for one week, which is how long our guests will stay, and we will stay for 2 to have our honeymoon as well.

We actually met a real nce TA at Sell Off Vacations in Wpg, who advised we wait until the new year so she can inquire as to what the group rates will be for Feb 2011. Most airline/vacation companies will offer a group discount rate for a min of 10 people, which we figure we certainly should have!

We are hoping it will come under 2 grand for the week. We know that may be pricy, but we don't want to sacrafice the location for the most important day of our lives to make it lighter on friends/family wallets. After all, they are getting a vacation out of it as well!

Jenn -- I agree, I hope the rates look a little better in the new year since everything is just an estimate right now. I'm not sure what you can get from Winnipeg, but there are seat sales right now for February 2010 for $1500 from Toronto (1 week). I know many of my friends will hold out for those seat sales next year instead of booking as a group, so I think that will be a challenge...

Vallarta_2009 -- thanks for the tip about WestJet, I'll definitely look into that!

Oryx,

1500 from TO is nice, but the flight from Wpg to TO would prolly be like 400! lol so we wouldnt be savng much in the end! Damn flights within canada, whats up wth that!? Its so frickin expensive to fly within our own country?

n-E-wayz!!

Were you going to use a photographer? I was thinking of HDC Photography, they hae pretty good reviews on this site, and Arneaud is really friendly, he responded very promptly to my emails, and pricing is very reasonable!

Hello future Majestic brides. Just wanted to share my experience so far. I started looking at pricing in August 2008 (getting married next month) and we ended up paying $300 less than what they had quoted in August 2008 so I hope this gives you an idea that their quotes are very general estimates since pricing doesn't usually come out until 8-9 months prior to departure.

I agree about WestJet vacations. Since this is a new service being offered by WestJet they are very competitevely priced, their taxes are almost 200$ less than what Signature/Air Canada/Sunwing/Sunquest are charging.

We just got back from our wedding at the Majestic Colonial... it was the most perfect wedding/week! I promise you won't be disappointed! Our group had a blast!

I'm going to try to get around to getting a review done, and hopefully a (very late!) planning thread (my laptop that has everything on it is currently in the shop! eek).

But for now I have a few pics to share:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
