I just found out they can't accomodate me any time within the 3 week window (July 2010) that I provided them. I'm pretty bummed right now...

Back to the drawing board I go....
Did you try the Elegance as well?

I have sent multiple emails and called a couple of times but they have not responded to me as to the available dates. Its very frustrating, all i want is a date so I could move forward with ANY planning. Has anybody had a Catholic or is planning to have a Catholic wedding there? I appreciate any info or feedback! Thanks!
I also haven't heard anything back from Sandra for an email I sent about 2 week ago, so I don't have any tips in that regard. Now that I've sent her an email about availabilities I'm afraid I won't hear back for a while! Someone suggested that, if you're capable, send an email in Spanish! I passed that task over to the FI who said he "took care of it". Who knows what he wrote...?

As for the Catholic wedding, I haven't seen any feedback other than the fact that LaRomana has a lovely little church. Let's just hope there are more priests in DR than judges for your sake! I think they now have 3 and that's 2 more then they had last year!

Best of luck!!

Hi :)

With regards to a catholic ceremony there is a cute Catholic church in Punta Cana, or the one in la Romana as you mention, but this is at least 1.5 hours travelling time each way. The Majestic also has a little chapel on site, so in theory you should be able to use that.

The preists will only perform the cermeony in a location which is chapel - like: i,e a gazebo etc. as long as its not near people sunbathing in bikinis, they wont do the ceremony near half naked people!!

Hey Josh - Is the Steakhouse terrace the same at the Elegance? Please let me know when you have photos up! A bride on a facebook group mentioned that they allowed her to do the option of the free dinner and then just rent the terrace of the restaurant for dancing, cake cutting, etc. Have you seen this there?

I saw it for the first time at the Colonial and it turned out really well. It would be the same at the Elegance but it is not the steakhouse. It is at the beach restaurant called the Sea and C (or C and C) I don't know how it is spelled. The only potential difference might be the menu.

Here are three photos of the setup at the Majestic Colonial steakhouse terrace for dinner and dancing. The blue that you see on the top is a tarp that they put up in case it rained.

Similar to the beach reception option this may not work out during some of the winter months when the wind is extremely strong. You are outside of the wind screens (which are not shown in the photos).

This setup was for I believe 33 people. For music a Bose iPod dock/speaker set was used and was definitely loud enough.

The bar is not even a minutes walk away and is open until 11pm

Hi Everyone, I just got back from my wedding at the Majestic Elegance. It was absolutely AMAZING!!! I could not have asked for a better day. A have a few peices of advice for the upcoming brides

- if you want to have decorations on your cake bring your own. They may provide a ribbon but that is it. The cake is super yummy though and you get to pick the flavors (banana filling with chocolate cake was our favorite!).

- If you have specific flowers in mind I would bring you own, just to be on the safe side (fake flowers I mean). They confirmed over email that I could have bright pink and white lillies but when I got there they were not available. If you are not too picky then they will make a beautiful bouqet for you. Mine turned out fabulous!

- It seems that things you confirm over email are not written in stone. We asked for a videographer over email and when we got there one was not available. Kind of a bummer. We had a great photographer though so hopefully the pictures will capture the whole experience.

- If you do not want to pay to rent out a seperate area for the reception (Wet Bar, Parrot Bar,ect) it is possible to do some dancing at the Jazz bar before the Disco opens. This is what we did and it worked out fabulous. My husbands father asked the band to play a slow song for us and we did our first dance here ("Hopelessly Devoted", origionally sang by Olivia Newton John). Keep in mind that the music is in Spanish (half of our first dance song was in English) and if it rains this may not be an option. There is also a nice area by the bar in the front lobby that would be nice to hang out in before the disco opens- it is right beside a bar anyways). We planned on heading up here but ended up taking extra pictures by the pool and doing the bouquet toss off the bridge (a fun idea that came up at the time).

I will put up a reveiw really soon will all of the details with pictures. If you would like a sneak preview of our wedding pics here you go:

Our wedding photographer was Michael Steingard and he was absolutely amazing!!

Let me know if I can answer any questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
