Ampanda52, I was just wondering about this over on the other thread.  We are actually doing the symbolic ceremony, but we want it to be pretty personal and inclusive of our families and guests...I basically just wrote the ceremony we would like myself.  I asked Gloria about having the officiant say specific things, and including guests who would do readings, and she said it should be fine as long as I sent the "script" to her in advance so that the officiant can look it over and practice.  We have two readings we'd like done by our friends, and we want to personally recognize our parents and families, as well as those not present.  We're a little hippie-ish and don't want something too traditional ;)

At this point, with just over a month left till the wedding, the personal touches (like the ceremony) are the thing stressing me out the most.  We chose a destination wedding because it is more low-key and simpler, but we want it to be representative of US and still be unique, ya know?  I keep thinking that I'm forgetting important details!  Since all the big stuff is decided, it's like now it's all the small things that need my attention...and that is anxiety inducing!

I am sooo ready to be married and on vacation! Thank goodness for this website and all you ladies - I wouldn't have made it this far without you!

I actually had the legal ceremony but brought my own minister. So we just signed with the judge after. With that said I would say they are very flexible. The judge didn't even make us do anything with him except sign and put our finger prints on the sheet

Hi ladies, I am thinking of having my wedding at excellence but I am worried about the price per person for flight and hotel. I was hopping to stay around $1650 per person for 7 days. I have group of 35 ppl but if the cost is higher I don't know how many people will be able to come. I hope that with large group i would get somekind of discount. If any of you can share their prices per person I would appreciate it. Thanks

Hi there iryna10!

I got married there on July 27, I have to tell you, I don't think you'll get that price for 7 days with airfare.  My guests, on average, paid $1550 per couple for the hotel (All inclusive, of course) for 4 days.  I had 42 people come with us and most of my guests only stayed for 4 or 5 days, if that helps at all.  There were very few that stayed longer.  We flew out of Baltimore and airfare averaged about $400 per person round trip.  That being said, I think the price for what you get at this resort is well worth it.  Some of my guests have stayed at the best of the best and though ERC was excellent!

We used a travel agent to book for everyone and she was able to get us a pretty good rate and offer us incentives through the resort as well. (I can give you her information) I offered my guests pricing for 4, 5, 6 and 7 days, letting them make their decision and booking accordingly directly through the agent.  You may be surprised how many people will go when they can make the choice on how many days and how much they can spend.  Absolutely everything was included at the resort so once they've made the initial investment, they can relax!

I hope this helps.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

I agree with ampanda. I don't think you will be able to find door crasher deals for ERC because it's such a luxury resort and so highly rated by past guests. Our travel agent said November is usually a slow time, but not for ERC because it's so popular, it's busy all year round. It's a good suggestion to see if people can go for 4 or 5 days, that may help sway a lot of people into going.

Hi Trish! I booked through my Travel Agent and she was able to give us a better price than booking online through Excellence. It was only $20 or 30 less a night, but I figures it adds up. She also got us incentives like, for every 10 rooms booked we got a room free, limited to two. (So our parents rooms were paid for.) and free welcome cocktail party for everyone. We had 44 people come with us, so 22 rooms. I'm not sure where you are located but I can give you the name and number of my travel agent. She was absolutely wonderful. I live in MD and she lives in NJ and I was able to work very we'll with her. She is very familiar with Excellence and specializes in Destination Weddings. If you have any more questions please feel free to contact me. If you want I can pm you my email address. Hope I've helped! Mandy

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
