krmiller,

Thank you so much for your honest review about the photographer.  That is so disappointing.  We have the same package and I wasn't planning to hire another photographer in order to save money.  After hearing this - it completely changes things!

Can't wait to see your pics when you have them back from Juan :)

Sorry to disappoint!  If I can figure out how to do it, I will post pics from both photographers so that you can see the difference yourself.  You will have pics the rest of your life.  It is so worth the investment!!  Did Nayeli give you the link to the resort photographer's website?  If not, here it is: http://www.calypsofoto.com/

Hello ladies! I have just booked my wedding for 20th October 2011!  I like to do things at the last minute! LOL!  There is only myself and my fiancé going! Very romantic!

I have opted to get an outside photographer in... as 24 pics for the resort photographer seems AWFUL!  I have booked Derek Campbell! The resort is charging us $150 dollars per person to bring the photographers in! But I think its worth it! I will be getting tons more photos - and by reading other peoples reviews - much better quality! He is also doing the video for pretty cheap for me also!

Questions I have are:  Do they do the ceremony in English? Exchange the rings etc?  Has anyone also said their own vows?

As we are on our own we are thinking about having a private dinner on the beach afterward.. anyone done this? Apparently its an extra $250 per couple…..

Also…. How are the blood tests? I bruise like a peach and donâ€t fancy a huge black bruise on my arm?

I am soooo excited!

Big hugs ladies! XXX

krmiller thank you so much for your reply!

ironically I was just told that their photographer is blue lens caribe, and they actually have some reviews on here.

Maybe they recently changed photographers?

Their website actually doesn't look too bad.

On the other hand calypso really doesn't look good. I'm so sorry you had a bad experience with them. At least you had another photographer!

Hey ladies,

I heard from Nayeli that the two companies (Blue Lens Caribe and Calypso Foto) joined to create a new company, VIPS Weddings Photo.  They have one photographer and here is her website:  http://www.ireneescobar.com/.

Based on reviews and seeing pictures of others weddings I decided to contact Del Sol to see if they could photograph my wedding.  They said that they no longer photograph at Excellence Resorts :(  Has anyone else tried to contact them or know why they no longer take photos at Excellence?

Those of you who have used outside photographers, what was your experience like bringing them onto the resort?  Did you have any issues?  Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

HI ,

YES DEL SOL IS NO LONGER ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY , SO SOMETHING BAD MUST HAVE WENT DOWN ... BUT I AM A TRAVEL AGENT AND GETTING MARRIED AT THIS HOTEL AS WELL IN JUNE , I RECENTLY HAD CLIENTS OF MINE GET MARRIED @ EXCELLENCE PLAYAS MUJERES AND THEY ALL USE THE SAME PHOTO PEOPLE , WELL HER PICTURES WERE OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING ... AFTER SEEING HER PICTURES I DECIDED I AM STAYING WITH THE HOTEL PHOTOGRAPHERS .... IF YOU BRING IN SOMEONE FROM THE OUTSIDE YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THE HOTEL ALLOWS THEN AND HOW MUCH YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM TO BE ON PROPERTY ....GOOD LUCK

Hi, we got married in June at ERC and VIPS handled our photography (who was the in-house photographer at the time, not sure if they still are).  I believe our photographer was Massimo, who works with Irene.

The pictures came out so well that we ended up buying many more than we planned- they really did a fantastic job on them.  I don't know how to load pictures to this website but I did load a few to the new Excellence "Stay connected" site last night-

http://www.excellence-resorts.com/stayconnected/

if you can't access these send me an email and I can send you a few- like I said, I would highly recommend them. (kswindon2@yahoo.com).  I am a little more laid back then some brides, so I wasn't bothered by him being behind us or asking us to turn toward him during the ceremony (which he did ask just once).

As far as the blood tests-- the Dr that came in did a fantastic job- I bruise as well, and I did not have any bruising.

The ceremony was in English; there were some things she said where you could tell English wasn't her first language but it was all part of the experience- we didn't mind :)

We had 22 people with us and everyone had a great time.

To be honest, I think we had 36 so you should be fine! I would just email the wedding coordinator and ask, but I think you should be good to go if you choose a long table. I'm not sure about the U-shaped table since that wasn't our set up.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
