Does anyone have information on Reception options??? Has anyone done a semi-private reception at one of the restaurants?? Do they charge you for this??  Any advice on the best place for the ceremony?? Beach or Pier? If the beach, can you still wear heels? And how about the location for the cocktail hour??

HI, Yes, I am having issues with WC. I sent her an email a week ago and still have not heard back from her. I sent a follow up email yesterday and still have heard nothing. My wedding is in 2 months and I really need some questions answered!  It is getting a little frustrating!

Hello All!!

I am sorry that I haven't posted anything here for awhile.  We arrived home from our wedding/honeymoon and had our reception this weekend so I finally have some time to sit down with my computer!  I want you all to know that it was an AMAZING experience and I couldn't have asked for anything more perfect!!

I will email the PDF files of flower/cake options!  Just know that I found a bouquet that I loved online and emailed a picture.  The wedding coordinator will let you know if it is a possibility with the package you had.  The florist they use did an amazing job on my flowers!!

Reception options:  You can have your reception in any of the restaurants that are closed that night.  Usually there are 2 restaurants that are closed every night and these are available for your reception.  We had our reception in the foyer and it was amazing.  This is a private room off the main lobby that is like a huge covered patio but is absolutely amazing!  The food was amazing and they set up a HUGE bar!  I would pick this location over any of the restaurants as it was very private and works well for small (we had 11 guests) or large groups!  There isn't any cost for your reception as long as you get one of the wedding packages that include a meal.

Ceremony options:  My vote is for the pier - which is where we had our wedding.  There are pros and cons of both, but for me the pros outweighed the cons.  The pier is definitely more private.  While we were on our honeymoon we also saw a wedding that was on the beach.  People staying at the resort LOVE to watch weddings and you can count on having a large crowd who will cheer you on after the ceremony - which was fun.  People get a lot closer to you if you are getting married on the beach as there are chairs pretty close to the ceremony site.  If you get married on the pier people will stand on the beach but you don't know they are there.  The pier is much windier than the beach but it helps to keep you cool!  They use a great sound system so our guests could easily hear the ceremony.  You can wear heels on the beach but they make it very awkward to walk and the brides that I've seen wear heels in the sand looked very uncomfortable.  We got married on the pier so I had my maid of honor carry my shoes and place them on the end of the pier.  I walked barefoot through the sand and slipped on my heels for the walk down the pier.  I took all of our beach pictures in barefeet which was much easier and more comfortable.  All of our guests ended up taking their shoes off as well.

Cocktail hour:  We had our cocktail hour right on the beach.  They set up a huge fully-stocked bar in a little hut and some cocktail tables and we had a mariachi band.  We had so much fun.  Having the cocktail party on the beach allowed our guests to feel like they were a part of our photo session on the beach.  It was so much fun!

Wedding Coordinator:  WE LOVED NAYELI!  I know it is frustrating that she doesn't respond right away.  After being at the resort and seeing how much work she puts into each wedding, I understand why it sometimes takes her awhile to respond to emails.  She gave us 100% of her attention on our day and made sure that everything turned out perfectly.  There is a wedding almost every day so just keep in mind how many weddings she is planning.  She touched our hearts and we will forever appreciate how much work she put into this.  One suggestion that I have is to resend an email if she hasn't responded within a week.  Once it gets closer to the wedding and you need a response faster, use the word URGENT in your email... that seemed to work!  Otherwise, I would also suggest calling her.  j

Suggestion:  Destination weddings are tricky.  My biggest suggestion that I can give is to relax.  I can guarantee that there are going to be hiccups, but I promise you that it will be perfect so my biggest suggestion is to not freak out.  You are in the middle of paradise and your wedding will be beautiful!

I had Juan Navarro do my photography - he used to be the onsite photographer for ERC.  I will include a link to my pictures for you to see.  There are 1725 of them, but you can go through them pretty quickly to have an idea of how things are set up!  Nayeli is the woman who is doing our ceremony (so you can put a face with a name!)  ENJOY!!

Our wedding video should be posted on the videographer's website soon.  I will let post the link when it is up!

You have all made an amazing decision by choosing to have your weddings at ERC.  I would give anything to get to do it all over again!

AliOle,

Thank you so much for your recent post!  Congratulations on your recent nuptials.  It looks and sounds like you had a great time.  Your pics look great and there are so many of them, wow.  Thank you for the reassurance about the WC and the resort.  It's nice to hear that Nayeli puts so much dedication into each wedding.

Out of curiosity, were all of those photos included in your wedding package, or did you upgrade?

Hi Aliole,

Congratulations on your recent wedding. Your pictures are amazing. I am getting married in less them 25 days and I am now getting super excited.

I loved your flowers and your set up on the pier for the ceremony. Where did you find your maraca's? I LOVE THEM And have been looking for the right ones forever. Did you bring these with you or buy these in Mexico?

Sand Ceremony - Was this something you did through the hotel or did you also bring this with you?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
