Have you seen the pictures from BeachGirl@heart?  She had her reception at Agave, in the courtyard.  It was absolutely beautiful.  I am also getting married on a Friday and am considering either the Lobster House or Agave instead of the foyer.  The foyer is more private than the restaurants and still overlooks the ocean.  The lighting in the foyer is really pretty, too.  It will be a tough decision for sure.

If you're having a smaller wedding, be careful with the foyer it's very noisy. It's right near a room with some machines in it so you hear the humming a lot. If you're going to have music it will cover it up a bit.

No, I haven't seen Beachgirls pics.  I will have to go look for them.  I forgot about the foyer!  I had looked at so many resorts before deciding on this one that I am so confused on which resort has what!!  We will probably have around 35-40 people coming to the wedding.  Aren't the restaurants closed for the evening?  How is the foyer more private?

So glad you had such a great time! We went on a day site visit to ERM back in December and we were really impressed. We have children going though so we decided to go with Hacienda Tres Rios. For our honeymoon though we are thinking of the Excellence!! I loved it and it seemed so relaxing. The only hting that worries me is the reviews I read about the power outages and the hard beds. Did you guys experience any of this? Are the beds comfortable? We are going on our honeymoon so that would be important!

There is nothing else that you could want that ERC doesn't already have or that they won't go out of there way to get you. The staff is absolutely amazing and they wait on you hand and foot. You can literally stay in the same spot all day without getting up at all :)

The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the beach is gorgeous. Food is also amazing; we were there for a short 5 days and didn't get to try every restaurant; but we were impressed alone with the breakfast and lunch options. Most all inclusive resorts we have visited in the past only offer buffet options for lunch. Not ERC! There are several options for breakfast/lunch where you can actually order from a menu which was a nice surprise for us. We even had fresh sushi rolled on the beach for lunch; yum :)

We spent most of our time relaxing on the beach; where they bring you as many drinks and as much food as you want. I didn't see too many people take advantage of ordering food on the beach, i think this was because the food in the restaurants was so good and it was nice to relax in these open aired areas/restaurants. Note: It was over 96 every day that we were there; and it felt over 100 easily.

Ramon was amazing. He pays so much attention to detail and really takes pride in what he does. I saw several weddings going on while we were there and even met some of the other brides. Everyone was so happy with the planning and/or how it all already turned out. We watched a small wedding on the pier and i was able to see the beach set up for another wedding that was going to occur the afternoon we were leaving. Pls PM if you would like to see pictures :)

Ramon walked us through the entire resort and really helped my fiance and i envision what are available options are. We are going to be married at the beach gazebo which is located on the excellence club side. This is nice because there are less guests that are in this area and more private. We will then most likely be having our cocktail hour on the pier. Depending on how many guests actually share this weekend with us we will be having our reception on the beach or in the foyer. If you have 50 people or more you can have the reception on the beach. We think we will have around 40-60 so we will see what happens.

The other option for a Saturday night reception is the Barcelona restaurant(Mediterranean). Fiance and i really want something more open air so we just didn't feel that this option was for us. The nights that each restaurant is closed can change at anytime; so there may be other options available when the time comes.

This place was so relaxing but at the same time if that's not what you are looking for there is so much to do. There are always people playing volleyball or hanging out by the swim up bar; but if you want to you can find a secluded area of the pool or relax on the beach all day. Whatever you want you get here! If you haven't already been there you future brides will love it.

BTW, The spa is amazing.....

Let me know if there are any questions and i will be happy to share :)

I just got my wedding confirmation from Ramon & will be getting married on July 16, 2011 on the beach! I am soooo excited. I will probably have about 20 people! I am thinking about having the reception dinner at the Lobster House on Saturday! Unfortunately, it will be open but I am not too concern. Is anyone else having their dinner there? Where are you having your cocktail hour?

These are two pictures I have of the Grill, which is the other half of the lobster house, so it's exactly the same.

Is that a private area up the stairs? Do you know how many it sits? Is this part of the Lobster House? That would be perfect for the reception dinner for a small party, Hmmm.

Thanks!

Hi Future Mrs. M

I had also read a lot of reviews prior to my site visit that the beds were really hard. I have to say i was comfortable. I've always had a bed that was more firm so this did not bother me at all. The worst was probably the pillows; however with the 3 on the bed and the 2 extra in the closet it was easy to find one that was right for each me & my fiance.

We didn't experience any power outages while we were there; then again there were no storms, not sure if this is normal or not.

If you stay at the excellence for the honeymoon will be you staying in the excellence club?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
