I have a question for those that have already been to Excellence. I am wondering how strict the dress code is. For example for women would a nice pair or dressy shorts that I might wear on a night out be acceptable in the restaurants? And I noticed the website said "no tank shirts" ; are nice sleeveless or skinny strap tops acceptable for women? Also, does anyone know how late the restaurants and bars stay open in the evening? Thanks!

The dress code is not too strictly enforced. The last time we were there people were wearing nice jeans and dress shirts or a nice afternoon outfit to dinner. The staff is just so gracious and courteous too that it would have to be a really bad violation of dress code in order for them to say anything, I think. I am a bit of a fashion snob, so I would say that people were still casually dressed. Just be respectful when picking out your outfits and you will be fine. Dress shorts and a dress top will be fine, even if it is technically a tank style. The restaurants are usually open until nine, some later, the bars are open until eleven. Depending on the number of people present, there are two clubs open until one in the morning. They will close earlier if there are not that many people in the room.

I wore tanks tops and jeans capris and never had a problem, but our groomsman was told to change when we went to Barcelona because he had a sleeveless shirt one. Also, hubby was wearing nice leather flip flops to The Grill for dinner, and was told he couldn't eat there. So they do enforce the dress code.

Hi V, Congrats and welcome for the forum. I can't seem to find the upgrades list Ramon sent me but i do remember that if you choose the gold wedding package each additional guest over 20 will cost $45 pp.

We were married at ERC April 30. I have photos from our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception that I'm happy to share - just PM me.

And for those who have doubts about Ramon, don't - everything comes together and anything you are uncertain about before your arrival you can be sure it will be taken care of when you are there. Ramon and his staff are wonderful and will treat you like you are the only couple getting married there. My Mom broke both of her feet at the reception and they took very good care of her. So, even the worst case scenario will be handled with ease. We have a story to tell our kids :)

Being that Grimaldi Square is an open access area of the resort, were there guests from the resort who tried to hang out in the area where you were having the reception or the cocktail hour?

Hair and makeup were done beautifully, the spa in general is FABULOUS!! Ramon is awesome, as is the rest of the staff and service. We can't wait to go back for our anniversary, or sooner! We had 26 total in attendance, we had a welcome dinner in one of the open restaurants with a special menu, that we didn't pay extra for, and Ramon walked us through a brief rehearsal. Everything was amazing and far exceeded our expectations (even with 40 mph winds; but no rain, thankfully) and transporting my dress was much easier and smoother than I thought it would be. I am happy to answer any questions about anything - just PM me. Now to start planning the AHR!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
