He was sooooo nice over the phone. I think everything is going to work out now and I can sleep peacefully. He did confirm the price for outside vendors is $100 per person and $70 for outside guests that are attending the wedding ONLY. If the guests want to stay longer, to hang out at a bar, the price is also $100.

The sound system is $500 for 3 hours. Apparently the system is included in the package for the ceremony ONLY. However, since the resort hosts events in the evening they have to rent the sound system. The hotel does have ipod docking stations that might work but he suggested we bring our own. Not sure why if the hotel has one already but I might call back and ask.

He also asked me to send him a copy of the guest list and let him know if there are any food allergies or dietary restrictions.

Oh, before I forget, there were some changes that I wanted to make to the Gold package and he said that they usually dont allow it but that he would allow it. I was shocked but I'm thinking they usually do this but dont put it in writing. I hope things flow this way once we get down there as well.

I hope this helps!!!
Hi Jennifer -

Im Michelle...I can't believe i'm getting married in 20 days...YAY!!!!

So glad you spoke to Ramon and things worked out, just as i suspected they would, that's exactly why i'm not panicking about the little tweaks of switching this for that but just doesn't want it in writing.

Ohh...what are you walking down to ?? I have no idea and I think we have two options..i haven't even thought about it, LOL.

My date is April 28, 2010.

I had some initial problems with Ramon while trying to book our date. It was very frustrating to the extent that we thought we might have to decide on another resort. However, once everything was figured out, Ramon has been great and very sympathetic to my panic. I feel very at ease with him.

To those of you gettin gmarried in the next few weeks: Congratulations!! Don't worry. I am sure Ramon will take care of everything. Besides, it will be so wonderful, that none of the mishaps will be memorable.

Much love to you all!!

Congratulations to all you brides that are getting married at ERC soon. I just booked my wedding at ERC for May 7th 2011 and I cannot wait. Thanks to all you ladies for providing such great information about this place. This forum is a life saver.

Is anyone else getting married on a Saturday? Does anyone what restuarant is closed that night?

I'm happy to say we were able to work everything out with Ramon. We did decided to go with the Excellence of Love package over the gold mainly due to the amount of people we were having. We only have 8 guests, so we didn't see a need for so many extras.

Is anyone else having a smaller wedding, and not having and music or dancing? I feel it would be a little weird with such a small group?

endlesslove: Glad to hear everything has worked out with Ramon. We too are having a small group of people, 11 including us, and are not having a dj. At the moment our choice is to still get the Gold Package since the Trio is included as are flowers, bouquets, etc.. We will be having the Trio for the cocktail hour and and Ipod during the reception.

When did you talk to Ramon? My wedding is on May 7th and we havent hatched out all of the details just yet.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I've been emailing him back and forth. We'll finalize everything when we arrive, but I'm glad to see we were able to agree on previous discussions I had with the other WC's in the past.

We were going to go with the Gold package, but decided $900 wasn't worth it to us to just have a trio which preforms at the resort all the time, and 2 centerpieces. I have plenty of decorations I am taking so no biggie for me. We'll just use that money to enjoy Mexico!

Regarding the iPod dock, there is an iPod dock station/alarm combo (I think) in the room. Veronica mentioned this to me a while back and suggested that we could use that. We have a BOSE dock station that we're bringing so I'd recommend bringing your own not knowing what the output is on the one in the room. I'd asked Veronica about using the sound system for both the ceremony and reception and she'd said it would be fine. But, we now know that is a definite no w/o paying extra. No worries though :) We have our own stuff we're bringing for our slide show, too, which we're showing during dinner. We just have to rent the screen.

We actually requested dietary restrictions and such from guests on our response cards ahead of time which was very helpful. :) He also asked for my guests' flight info and booking numbers. I only had flight arrival times (we want to try to greet as many people as we can and deliver their welcome bags) and not everyone booked through our TA so I sent what I had. Lastly, he asked about room preferences and grouping people together - so hopefully they can accommodate those requests, too.

Like you, I'm not really worried about anything. At this point, its just a matter of counting the days and packing (which I'm half done with already).

Hello Ladies,

When I was planning our wedding at The Excellence Riviera Cancun I spent a lot of time researching information on this forum. I thought I would pay back the favor because the website was SO HELPFUL!

In short, this was the most perfect wedding day! If you have chosen this hotel to have your wedding at, relax and enjoy!!! Our wedding day was perfect! Ramon was wonderful! Everything was exactly as we requested it.

Here is the overview of the wedding day. Sorry that it is so long! Hopefully you will find it useful!

Since we have booked the wedding in November, I had been communicating with the Excellence Wedding Coordinator, Ramon. He was always prompt with his e-mails (usually 3-4 days to respond) and always answered the questions consistently. I have read a lot about brides hearing different things each time they talk to their wedding coordinator however, this was never the case with Ramon. Before we left for Mexico, I printed off all of our e-mail communication because I was so concerned that details might be lost or forgotten, however when my fiancé and I met with Ramon (the day after we arrived) he had all the details written down. He even had my notes about the cake that I wanted (I was very specific). He showed us where everything would be held, and did a quick “rehearsal”, just so we would know what to expect.

We had a small wedding party. I had a maid of honor, and we had 11 guests attending. We just wanted a small wedding and decided to have a larger “At Home Reception” back in Canada.

I chose to bring my chair ties with us because we could purchase them for about $1.90/chair tie online, and we would have to rent them for $5/chair tie there. They did not charge us anything to put the ties on the chairs at the wedding or at the reception.

We also brought fans to the wedding, that I purchased online, they had our names and wedding date scripted on them. We thought they would be nice to cool down our guests, however the breeze off the ocean was cooling enough. I gave them to Ramon and he ensured that they were displayed beautifully on the chairs at the wedding ceremony for all the guests.

I spent the morning of the wedding at the spa. Karen was the lady who did everything for me that day. She did my manicure, pedicure, hair and makeup. She was an absolute perfectionist. She did the most beautiful job on my hair and makeup. I was a little worried because I had a hair dresser back home do a trial run of my hair and the result was awful, but Karen did the most amazing, perfect job.

We brought a friend to do our photography before, during and after the wedding, however, the wedding package we chose (The Excellence of Love package) included the resort wedding photographer and 24 pictures.. The resort photographer did a lovely job and had the 24 pictures that were part of our package printed off for us, as well as including a disk with all the photos on them 2 days after the wedding. He also showed us the other pictures that he took at the time. In total, he had an additional 160 pictures (digital copies) to sell to us for $130. He did a nice job, however we decided against the additional photographs, because we had our own photographer.

The wedding itself was perfect. The bouquet that I requested (fuscia gerbera daisies) was beautiful. The weather was sunny and gorgeous. The beach was the perfect location for a bare foot wedding. The Minster who was there for our vows read them out to us perfectly (we made a couple small changes to them before we went). The moment was lovely and my husband and I will never forget that day.

The reception after the wedding was lovely. We were able to choose from the selection of meals for our dinner. The food was okay, but the dessert was to die for! I requested a small 2 tiered cake with vanilla on top and chocolate on the bottom tier, with fondant icing on top. Ramon ensured that it was made exactly the way we asked! The cake was so, so yummy that we asked to have the leftovers sent to our room!

The wedding was perfect. I could not have asked for a better wedding. Ramon made our day flawless. Everything went seamlessly. My husband and I would not have changed nothing.

I would recommend this resort to any bride who was thinking of a Destination Wedding. Relax and know that ‘your day’ is completely under control and you don’t have to worry about anything!

I hope you wedding day goes well! :)

So happy to hear your day was great! I'm so excited for our wedding now!

Did you have to pay extra for the cake you wanted? Also were having only ten people including us, did you have music and a full reception or dinner? Were thinking just dinner.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
