Wedding Sparklers?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I'm really wanting to walk out of the reception though sparklers instead of the usual flower petals or bubbles. Have any of yall ever used or are planning to use sparklers? A friend of mine went to a fireworks stand in TX to try them out and they were terrible, but I'm wondering if there are any made specifically for weddings that aren't too large or "firery". Any suggestions? I've looked at some websites, but not sure if they're just like the ones from the stands on the highways. I know there is a law in Texas of when you can purchase or have firecrackers shipped into the state, and my deadline is January 1st, so I HAVE to get on this fast. Any help or advice would be so greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Casey

Ok... here's what I found:

Leia used them (you can see them in the pictures here) I'm not sure if the pictures help you decide what to get, but here they are anyways:

Here Sandy mentions the sparklers she used - and mentioned they were really long! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t22191

And this is an awesome thread (with pictures)!! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t5363

Ok, I didn't find as much as I thought I would, but the last thread attached is a pretty good one.

I've been to 2 weddings that used sparklers (I dont know what kind) and here is what I suggest - make sure you have plenty of room for your "walk-way".

Sparklers shoot off hot ash, so people hold them away from their clothes, etc. Which means they aim them towards the "walk-way" where you will be walking.

The first wedding I went to was around a pool, so people had no where to go (a step back and they went into the pool!). The bride was so scared she would ruin her dress with hot ash, she waited until the sparklers burned out before she walked down the walk-way. I dont blame her at all, but it kinda missed the point of having sparklers :)

The other wedding was a bigger party, so people were a little more drunk. The guys ended up holding the sparklers towards each other and I remember seeing several burns. It was funny, because they had done it to themselves and the burns werent bad, but the girls were scared to death so they all ran to the other side of the lawn.

I think they look great, you just need to have plenty of room so people can spread out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
