This is news to me!  Especially since that's where I am confirmed to have my wedding dinner on Jan 12th.  I just spoke to Tiffany last weekend and she mentioned no such thing...

Alicia,

Are you getting married at the Iberostar Beach or the Iberostar Suites? This may be the issue.

I'm running into the same issue, everyone is totally going until they actually have to book the trip!  I have my florist on standby for all my rentals, centerpieces etc because I don't know exactly what I will need.  Thankfully the contract is able to be changed even with our deposit made.   I think we'll end up with about 55 also.  I held onto our invitations because I wanted to send them out as a reminder to book and didn't want to do it to soon or over the Christmas holiday.  I'm hoping sending them out in the next couple of weeks will remind people to make their reservations. If you don't have at least 50+ people Calabash isn't an option, and the Mediterranean is way to small for a wedding over 30 people or so, I was in there.  So I don't know what I'd do if we weren't able to do it there!

I'm not really stressed about it yet, I'm thinking (hoping) people will book with their tax returns!

Heather & Court,

I give you guys credit! My wedding is right around the same time as yours & I only have 1 more person to book (my sister). But we do only have 20 people coming including ourselves!

& I thought 1 person was enough stress for me! I can't wait til the 3 month out mark so I can actually "plan"!

 Alicia,

If you are talking to Tiffany ... then you are most likely referring to the Suites Steakhouse. She is talking about the Beach Steakhouse.

I will keep you all updated!  Our RSVPs are due February 1st so I am sure I will have a better idea then.  That's also the last day to book with our TA.  I am just totally lost at what are numbers will be.  We sent out 95 invites inviting 180 persons.  When I did the calculations before sending out the invites, I was estimating almost 80 persons coming based on positive responses from the save the dates.  Now my estimate is down to 55, but only 13 have booked!  I am still missing 75 RSVPs that account for 147 persons.  And, people I totally thought were coming that kept saying "I can't wait" are now like "we have to see."  If they are just now saying "we have to see" then I am thinking they are going to say no because I am pretty sure you would know by now.  O man.  Wedding planning is stressful.  I can't plan decor, reception venue, etc. until I have a better idea of the number!

I think we invited roughly 100-110 people and we have 30 coming. My travel agent predicted all along we would have 30 (or roughly 1/3), she said people always are excited but plans change and many people end up not making it. I think with planning a destination wedding there is always a risk some people you had hoped could be there won't make it, but at the end of the day, this is a different type of experience and if I wanted a wedding with 200 people I would have planned it at home. All that truly matters is that I'm marrying my best friend and so long as we both show up, the rest is all a bonus as far as I'm concerned! Of course my head was ready to explode when we were up to the last day to book back in the spring and my Dad and brother still hadn't booked, but it all worked out and they got themselves booked in time after all. No wedding is stress free!

At the 3 month Mark they send you the documents to fill out, they still don't answer questions any faster or any more helpfully haha. I can send them to you now if you want, just send me your email address. I am at the Beach resort.

Does anyone know what the tables are like.. or how the seating is set up in the Calabash Restaurant for a Semi-Private? We will have about 60 people so I'm curious to how it will be set up. I saw some pictures previous and it looked like round tables, but the wedding coordinator says it will be square tables and hold 10 people.

Can anyone confirm this, or does anyone have any pictures?

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
