Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone, I thought I would update you all with Nicole's (WC at Suites) response to my question about 2011 rates. Hope this helps.

"Enclosed you will find the price list and package that we have (2010), we do not have any pricing for next year yet although we are expecting an increase of 10% more or less since usually the taxes here in Jamaica increase every year.

The rate for the day pass on the wedding day is $100 US per person, the information is also listed on the services with extra charge list as well. ""

Mrsdeloatch- I felt like you in the beginning, I'm a perfectionist and couldn't image the day having all of these glitches due to the lack of response but then a great friend of mine gave me advise I will cherish for the rest of my life.  She said this to me "From a bride to a bride to be please understand that in life things will always go wrong, nothing is perfect.  The most important thing is that your husband to be is waiting for you down the aisle.  Anyone that loves you would be blessed to watch you say "I do" even if merely with a glass of water sitting in the sand. "  From that moment on I put into perspective what was most important and let everything else fall into place.  The culture in Jamaica is very relaxed so I decided to adapt to it.

The IRHS reviews have been consistently good, make the best of it honey and enjoy your planning.

Hi Ladies just so you know the vendor passes are $100 per person.  As per Nicole the prices for 2011 may increase 10% from 2010.

FYI - for brides at the 'Beach' resort, Vendor passes are $75 there, not $100.

I dont know if its just me, but I am so anxious about the "unknowing".  I thought by doing a destination wedding I wouldnt be as stressed but I think its the exact opposite.  I am a nervous wreck trying to plan this wedding with little to no communications from Nicole.  I love this site but we are all contrbuting bits and pieces and I am so nervous about missing something....

I dont know if I feel added pressured because my FI's sister (soon to sis n law and matron of honor) just had her wedding in PR and while it was nice in the long run so many things went wrong.  I had to step in an whip it her resorts coordinator into shape.    And while it is not a competition the expectation for me to step my wedding up is there because i am a professional event planner.....

UGH! Does anyone feel like this or is this my crazy not having control issues stepping in?... LOL!!!

I TOTALLY understand what you are going through. I am a professional event planner as well and feel that planning a destination wedding is DEF more stressful. It would be less stressful if you are an easy-going bride who doesn't really care about decor or timing or all that little stuff... but I think as an event planner we both know the value of those little things. Not being able to meet with these vendors etc, is so scary!

Just go through your list, just as you've done before, your not going to forget anything! You can do it!

And if you need questions answered, ask them here. I seriously couldn't imagine the amount of questions these WC's probebly get in a day... stupid questions that could be googled like 'when does the sun set?' and stuff like that... and I know on my wedding day I want her focused on ME, not answering emails to other brides.... so I understand that they are not very responsive until the few months before the wedding.

There is seriously soo much to help you on this site. And if you have all your ducks in a row, and be ready to explain to your WC how everything should run in your 'pre-wedding meeting'. Then everything will be FINE.

I feel your pain girl, just let us know if we can help!! cheesy.gif

Now does this mean if you just use the resort DJ you have to rent out the restaurant? That is not what I got from other bride's reviews. Sorry, just confused...

Misee - If you don't rent out the restaurant, then there will be other diners there, and therefore, you cant have a DJ/Dancing with other diners in the restaurant with you.

Another option is to do your dancing/cake/etc at a cocktail reception, just serve appetizers and get a bar. Then you can do dinner (or skip dinner, if you do enough apps and people start drinking you wont need a sit down dinner) and more dancing at the disco.

Breeze your response was very positive too!  You guys are really awesome and I know that I have been helped so much by this forum that I honestly have no idea of what I would have done without it!

Just what Breeze said - you cant have a DJ if its not rented due to the fact that other diners will be there. So if you want to hook up any sort of equipment for a microphone or a dj- the extra charge to rent it out is required.

Dont worry Mrsdeloatch! Everything will work out just fine. I was in the same position as you when I started planning - in fact, I didnt even know where to start untill I found this website!!! I didnt know what a "save the date" was, an OOT bag, and what decorations we need/can bring to make it our "own" - until I found this website! lol. But again, do not worry - this is supposed to be the happinest time in your life! Nicole constantly reminds me in ALL her emails "do not worry, we will finalize these details about 1-2 months prior to the wedding". I even called her today to book the steel pans band for our ceremony and she simply said "no problem, we will do this for you one month prior to the wedding". In my mind im thinking lets just do it NOW, haha. But it doesnt work like that. Remind - they operate on Island time. As long as you stay organized for what you want and you present this to Nicole about two months prior to your wedding date- you are going to be JUST fine!!! :) Plus, we are all here to help!

Hey

I think the anxiety is good if you tune it more to the excitement side than the worrying side. Most of the reviews on here for IRHS have been great. I fact I havent seen a bad one, obviously just a few minor things not going to plan. I think not everything will go exactly perfect as you had planned it but I'm sure it will turn out perfect how it was meant to be. If you are prepared with all your end of things and know exactly what you want it should be fine. From the reviews Nicole seems good. I get married on the 16th December, I am having my MOH and another bridesmaid check out the reception on the day to make sure they have remembered to put everything out, and light the candles! lol. I am determined to enjoy the day and not stress out. The joys of a 4pm wedding!

I do understand what you mean about the communication from Nicole, I emailed her yesterday for something quite simple and haven't heard anything back. I always end up calling. she is usually in after 12pm JA time 0018766800000. Another good thing is they only do one wedding a day! so your details wont get all mixed up.

If your wedding date is quite far away I know she says that they usually start working on the details 6 weeks before. Which does kind of make sense, but its still nice to get a reply on some requested info.

I would relax a bit and not stress, a destination wedding should be laid back and fun. Just get excited! xoxo

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
