I am also looking for the crystals to hang on the huppa. There's something very romantic I find about them. I read somewhere in this thread where Tai Flora also quoted $300 for the crystals, but once the bride said she wasn't renting their huppa & was using the resorts, then Tai Flora dropped to $100. But if anyone finds it cheaper somewhere, please let me know. I want to get these for my July wedding. I am finding that these prices are WAY MORE than I imagined.

Justine416, did you end up buying them on ebay?

I ended up finding hanging crystals for $5 today so I picked some of them up for the huppa. I'm just grabbing all decorations I want and will figure out if we use them or not...I'm nervous of once we get there regretting not picking something up.

So Tai Flora dropped the price of crystals to $75. I told them that I could buy and bring with me for $50 so either they would have to lower their price or I would just bring them with me. She revised her quote and said the reason for the original cost was because it included the actual huppa. Weird that Tai Flora wouldn't know the draped huppa is part of the hotels wedding package when they are the approved vendor. Regardless, I'm going with Tai Flora's crystals now as they are cheaper than ordering and shipping to Canada.

Oh that is so good to know. I am totally with you - if they are the main vendor with Iberostar - they know that the resort includes the huppa in the wedding package & they do not bring one there. I think that is them playing dumb trying to get you to pay more money. Thanks so much for answering that question for me. I am definitely going to rent the crystals as well.

Have any recent brides attempted to bring sparklers into Jamaica? I had planned on bringing them in my checked luggage (even knowing they're not allowed) but I'm not sure what happens if they find them - are they just confiscated? Has anyone experienced this?

I have asked a couple of my vendors to source them for me, but I know they'll be expensive...especially compared to the ones I bought from Dollerama!

Not sure what to do...

I have seen on a few posts that they made it safely to their destination no problem.  I haven't heard of anyone who had them confiscated, so I'm not sure what they do if they find them.  I also wanted to bring them for our wedding in May.  Let me know if you end up getting them down there!

I just asked my MOH's husband who works for the FAA what the chances are they don't find them.  He said Zero chance.  They will find them and they consider them explosives.  Guess it might not be a good idea...

Where did you find them for $5.  Send a photo and maybe I'll help cover the cost and share (I assume its $5/strand or something).

I bought 5 of them to hang behind the huppa...you are welcome to borrow them. I got them at a wholesale company. I'll try to upload a picture haven't attempted that yet!

Thanks. Did you tell him lots of people do get them into Jamaica and all over the Caribbean? I'm curious what he'd say. Clearly they are not found!

Just as an FYI, Tai Flora sourced some sparklers - $5.50 ea + tax, ouch! That's how many 30 of them cost me in Toronto.  :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
