Congrats, Starrysim, you look stunning.

I have 17 days before my big day and time is ticking. I sent my wedding details sheet to the PR person at the Beaches but haven't heard anything back so followed up with a reminder email to Silvia and the Kymoyo. I'm getting nervous....

Iriegirl,

Where did you end up having you ceremony and reception?  Did you work with anyone in Jamaica to plan it?  I am considering hosting my reception (and maybe ceremony) off property since I just received the 2012 rates for the Grand (and they're almost double the 2011 rates).

The hotel is absolutely amazing even though we had the reception and after party off site everything worked out great. Tai flora did good with my flowers and Rashel Edwards did an amazing job with my makeup I have never felt so beautiful and it lasted allllllllll night. i cannot wait to post my official review with pics etc.

I will have to look into Marcia, err, her assistant. :)

Thanks for sharing!

Well, these ARE my favourite ones :)  There are many more that are nice, and many that are just terrible, but I guess that's always how it goes.  Not their fault I'm so unphotogenic and can't pose :)

I would email them again, if it's so close to your wedding date.  Before my wedding I was assuming they were getting my emails, but it turned out they missed two relatively important emails from me the week before I left.  So check with them again if it's something important.

I know what that's like, scrounging around for snippets of guests' pictures :)  We got our pics just less than a month after the wedding, so yours will be here soon enough.  Be sure to post when they arrive, hopefully I'll still be hanging around the boards then.

Starrysim,

So....I booked Marcia and while your pictures look amazing, I'm concerned about the fact that she might not photograph my pictures and I feel like I selected her because of the photos I saw that she's taken...so I guess my question is....did you get a discount because her assistant did the photography??

Thanks!
Noreen

Noreen,

Marcia did my photos as well, and yes her assistant did take quite a few, she was standing there telling him what to do and she did most of the posing, capturing of moments shots. At one point he was so close to the water his shoes got wet! And he climbed to the top of the lifeguard tower to take a group shot looking down on the beach!! Just make sure you get it in writing what you would like covered...ie. cake cutting, at the reception, bride getting ready etc. and make sure your family is right there ready for their shots before they take the 2 of you off by yourselves for your own shots!

No, there wasn't really any discussion of why she wasn't taking pics.  It seemed to me that she was training him or letting him get experience, but that's just my guess.  I did find it a bit strange, because the way she words it in her correspondence is that you get her plus a shadow shooter - I assumed that was so that they could get shots of the reception from different angles, but that wasn't the case.  So I'm not sure...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
