I am worn out from the whole thing but I did want to sign in to say the review is coming up...one note I will say now...Nicole is a wonderful person and a great wedding planner...that said remember this is JA so the approach is totally different. I also used the hotel photographer and I do recommend them...I will write more later but they are aware of the issues and problems people have about them and are making changes to that reputation...ok sorry more more later but just checking in with you all.
Cant wait to see your review! Congratulations!!

Congradulations!!!!! I am so happy to hear that you are back and things went well. I am sorry to hear about the candles incident. I would have been upset too but it seems like you had a great attititude and handled it well!!

I was surprised to hear that you were happy with the photographer. I am anxious to see your pictures because based on the horrible reviews I was going to hire SAAB photography. I have not put a deposit yet so I may consider using the hotels photographer after your review.

Question on the flowers: I thought that TiaFlora was the florist for the hotel. Is that the florist you were talking about or is there another option?

Do you mind if I ask how much you had to pay to dress up the lazyriver?

Congrats Again!!!!

Tiaflora used to be the hotels florist but now the contract has know gone to Floral Studio. I was able to use ThaiFlora to dress up the lazy river but you know we never asked the other company if they could do that. I initially brought in Thai for a big "todo" but then just scaled back.

As to photography...if you are going with Saab and can afford to use them " DO NOT USE" the hotel photographer. My cousin got married last year at Half Moon and used Saab- her photos are off the hook let me tell you. They, Saab are no comparison..they are the best on the island. I personally could not afford them that is all...and remember I had 2 events and video i needed to cover.

Regarding the photography I had to tell them what I wanted and was very hands on at points...it was find for me...again DO NOT use them if you can go with the style and professionalism of SAAB.

The lazy river cost about $600 plus. That is with what Thai flora did. I brought my own ties..pink, the wedding programs where part of the decorations too they where blue with pink silk ribbon, also I had pink fans that where open on the chairs...all that i bought myself so that cost is not reflected in the 600...

thanks for the thoughts

Thanks for getting back to me on Tai flora, I spoke to Kimoya and she told me about Grandegarden because their florist cannot do some of these arrangements that Grandegarden and Tai Flora can do and doesn't have some of the props. Tai Flora is great but I hear they have a tendency to be late, Kimoya directed me to the Grande garden website which is great!! and I contacted a natalie that works with them and she is also very personable apparently they do flowers for Hilton but will go to any hotel to do flowers because. Visit their site guys well this is my last posting until Monday when I get back from Jamaica, I will be meeting with them as well as other vendors and I am looking at other hotels too. Have anyone viewed the photographer Michael Chens website, he is just as good as Saab and Sungold and gave me better pricing, very humorous person. Bye got to do last minute packing.

Hi Debbmach,

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.

The beach is okay...and a little rough and rocky, but then again, Montego Bay is not known for its beaches. The water starts out brown and eventually gets to a nice blue.

Mind you, I am extremely biased. I have been to the pink sandy beaches in the Bahamas where the ocean is crystal clear blue, so nothing really compares.

Imuze, great photos. You captured many that I didn't get a chance to get (I should have brought a larger memory card and deleted old photos).

My original appt was to see Rose Hall Beach, but since it was closed, I took a tour of the Suites instead. After my tour was finished, my wedding planner was able to push for a tour of Rose Hall Beach. They were getting ready for their grand-reopening, but they let us in anyway.

We liked the Beach...but we liked the hotel rooms at the Suites better. As a result, we are booking at the Suites instead.

    • I have stayed at Dreams La Romana and Dreams Dominicus.  The two resorts are very different in style and decor. A few comparison points are below and fact sheets are attached for both.   Both resorts are approx 45 minutes from Punta Cana airport, close proximity to Saona Island, Catalina Island and Altos de Chavon. Top championship golf courses in the Caribbean are just minutes away including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore, The Links and La Estancia – all designed by world-famous Pete Dye. Restaurants are similar at both resorts.  Both offer the Explorers Club for Kids.  Dreams Dominicus  Brand new resort and in 2016 488 rooms (however additional construction was underway) More contemporary style & decor Good beach area Rooms were very nice Preferred Club located in main lobby and adjacent to main pool & beach front Food was good Center plaza area with nighttime entertainment Main lobby is small, but outdoor bar off lobby is nice Dreams La Romana Originally built in 2003 & opened as Dreams La Romana in 2008 756 rooms Recently renovated and new preferred club adults only lounge & pool added  Rooms are more traditional Caribbean decor Grounds are very lush and tropical Good beach area food was good    Dreams Dominicus fact sheet.pdf Dreams La Romana fact sheet.pdf
