One question - did Nicole happen to explain the different options of where you can have a cocktail reception? There was a balcony outside the lobby that looked like it would be a nice option.

Thanks,
maggie
Sorry for the late reply, yes Nicole explained options for coctails and it seems they can set practically anywhere for the coctails but the area you mention, balcony outside the lobby, might be too far from the reception area if you are planning to have your reception at Aunt Ruby and ceremony by the beach. The beach area is just accross from the Restaurant.

Oh! I have a question too! My FI and I are DJs so... we're being extremely unconventional with our methods of music for our own wedding. We don't want to use a DJ because we will just critique him the entire time (not our idea of a fun evening). We pretty much want to just play music for the ceremony/reception/cocktail hour on our own. From what I read, it's my understanding that we can't just use his equipment, correct? The DJ will still have to be there? Honestly I wouldn't even trust him to press play...

Might we be better off bringing our own computer/ipod/speaker set up to just be able to do it ourselves??

Hi Everyone!

The manager of the Public Relations department at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach got back to me today and said that a new WC is starting next week. Her name is Latoya Caseley. She also made it sound in the email that there is a group of them and they all just work together as a team.

Anyway, just thought you'd be interested in knowing that there is someone new joining their group!

Debbie - thanks so much for the update on the new WC! I'm happy to hear actually that they have new one as I heard the last one was not all that great.

Melfredo - alot of the Iberostar brides in the past have brought an Ipod with all their music and used the resort equipment (or maybe it was the resort DJ's equipment?). I'm sure its going to be tough with you guys both being DJs to give that control to someone else! Especially someone you don't know! Can you convince a guest to 'push play'? If not, you may have to prepare yourself to let the DJ do it for you!!!

I was just married at the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall and just to clear it up for you ladies wondering about the WCs, yes, they are a team who all work together. The PR manager will be invloved in helping answer emails/phone calls but your WC will be the one actually doing the set up and work on your wedding. For mine, both the PR manager, Angellie and the WC Kymoya were at each meeting we had, set up for my rehearsal, during my rehearsal, set up for wedding, during my wedding, and also it was good b.c one was with the groomsmen on the wedding day to make sure they were all getting ready as planned and one was with me. They even took over as the MC from the DJ, as he had a really think Jamaican accent and was mispronoucing everyones names during our enterance...she did a GREAT job!!! Don't worry b/c they will help you so much but they don't really get into things with you until about a month before the wedding...then it's all about you!

hi all I just got married Dec 19 at Iberostar Rosehall suites and am preparing to write my review...I have to say it all went well...a few issues yes but well. I am worn out from the whole thing but I did want to sign in to say the review is coming up...one note I will say now...Nicole is a wonderful person and a great wedding planner...that said remember this is JA so the approach is totally different. I also used the hotel photographer and I do recommend them...I will write more later but they are aware of the issues and problems people have about them and are making changes to that reputation...ok sorry more more later but just checking in with you all.

Hi edSweety I have been eagerly awaiting your return :) I am so glad that things went well and I can't wait to read your review! I think I remember you saying you had a fairly large group, so I'm interested in hearing how they were able to handle that. Also I haven't been able to get any info from Flower Studio as far as what they have available and their prices, so I would love to hear what you got from them. Welcome back! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
