Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies,

Still new on here so forgive me if I ask any questions that have been covered somewhere else. Carina - congratulations and thank you so much for your review of IRHB. I am looking into the IRHS for October 2010. I am stuck between IRHS and RPTB - I like one, my fiance likes the other. Did you have the option of ordering an open bar during dinner for your guests? I would like to do that although it seems a little crazy considering what we will be paying to go down there in the first place - and that drinks are included in that price. Also, I plan on asking Sandy (?) if there is any chance for a beach cocktail reception and dinner as it has always been my dream to do the entire thing on the beach. Luckily I am not too picky and will just go with the flow so whatever they can give me, great, and whatever I can't have - I am ok with that. How were the reception decorations? Did you bring any of your own or just use what they gave you? I am so excited I wish next October was closer than it is!

Jenn

Does anybody know any close hotels to the suiteshuh.gif im having a couple people think it is too expensive to stay there, therefore im looking for alternative places that are close...any ideas??

Also, i know they say the beaches are re opening, (which would probably solve this issue) how ever, does anybody know for sure what is going on?

Hey there, My best suggestion to you is to read through this entire thread from the beginning. Its only 28 pages and you will have all of your questions answered.

Happy Planning!

No one knows for certain what will happen, but I do know that Iberostar is not the only chain that has closed some of their locations until November. Because it seems to be a more common industry occurrence, I think that they will for sure re-open, but since you are planning your wedding for February, you may be more comfortable picking somewhere where you can reach your WP over the next month.

Good luck!

What I will say is at least they are upfront and open about it. Take my advice--> I have been looking at destination weddings since september 2008....THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE DESTINATION WEDDING...THEY ALL GET YOU IN THE END....AT LEAST IRHS IS UPFRONT ABOUT THEIR COSTS AND YOU DON'T GET SURPRISED AT THE END. If your travel agent is suggesting that you can have a free wedding in the carribbean I suggest that you fire him or her becasue they are giving you very bad advice. In long run it is still a lot cheaper than getting married in the US.

There are some resorts that have cheaper packages but they are cheaper resorts that are not as nice.
I was searching this thread since I'm planning on going on vacation to the Grand Rose Hall and came across your post. I really cannot help but comment on it.

I got married at the RIU Bachata and my wedding was FREE! I had to pay for the judges fees...but I did not pay for my decorations, my bouquet, DH's bout, dinner was included, cake was included, champagne toast after the ceremony was included, chair covers & sashes were included. So yes...we had a FREE WEDDING! I did have to pay extra for my MOH's bouquet & the BM's bout. But really, what's $40? And the resort & wedding was beautiful! Most RIUs offer this free wedding package, so if you do not like Puerto Plata, you can go to Mexico, Ocho Rios, Punta Cana, etc. I suggest you do not make such strong statements if you do not know all the facts.

Well Bachata Bride is sort of correct about Riu offering free weddings, but if you are planning a wedding for over 10 people, the whole "free" thing goes out the window.

I was originally planning to get married at the RPTB and am well-versed in their wedding packages. For my wedding, because I was going to have 30 (+/-) people, the basic (aka Royal) Package was going to cost about $1200. The package that more closely matches the Iberostar package (aka The Caprice Package) is about $2250, so the prices are pretty comparable.

Sorry to burst your bubble Bachata Bride...

Hi volleygriff, The IRHS isn't too far awar from the airport so if your guests were looking for a more reasonable place to stay they could choose the RIU MoBay which is about 5 min from the airport or they could always go with the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort which is one of the lower priced hotels in MoBay. But there are also a long list of other hotels that aren't all-inclusive that are much more reasonable that they can choose from. I will cross my fingers that they re-open the Beach in time so that your guests don't have lots of worrying to do!!

Ouch....

But just to let you know, I had 20 people attend my wedding and again FREE. I had enough cake for everyone, enough champagne to go around...I was lacking nothing.

Anyway, that's enough of this - that's not what this forum is about.

I hope that my statement did not introduce any negativitiy to this site especially because it is so helpful to all of us.

I was trying to say that if you are looking to have a full wedding ie private reception, DJ, open bar etc you will not find that anywhere. I looked at the riu palace in negril. I actually travelled there and met with the representative. Their free wedding does not include a private reception. In addition it has a limit on the number of guests. Moreover, if there is another wedding on your day you can not bring a DJ whether or not you are willing to pay for it. THe riu in Ocho Rios has a conference room so they are willing to give you more privacy.

I fully researched the riu and they are great as long as you just go along with whatever they have preset. If you want to change or customize anything you have to pay for it and it is really hard to get their onsite people to be flexible.

I hope that I have not offended anyone.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
