Did any one hire an outside photographer for the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach in Jamaica? I was asking then about vendors fees and they are telling me i can't bring one in, they would have to spend 1 night in order to take my photos. Any one have the same problems? What did you end up doing?  Thanks for your help!

Oh no really?!? I thought we could and pay a vendor fee.....I put down a deposit for Brian Nejedly. I didn't really ask the WC just assumed its okay with a vendor fee...

Ive seen lots of pictures by outside photographers taken at the Beach / Suites and Grand... my photographer is an outside one (Misha Earle) .. though I'm getting married at the suites.. but yes there is a vendor fee, but its worth in IMHO.

I assume this is a misunderstanding. I can't see how ANY hotel would forbid you from bringing in an outside photographer.. Photos are one of the major aspects of the day...and I know I wouldn't just settle one anyone!

Dear Roxanne,

For the photographer they must stay at the resort for a minimum of 1 night to do the wedding here. We do not have a vendor fee for the photographers. WE do not allow external florists to do weddings here

This is the response i got back from Santena.. I agree with the comments above that it is our wedding day and we should bring in whomever we want.
I did write back to the wedding coordinator telling her that it is a once in a lifetime moment and that i should be able to choose who i hire to capture that moment. I also porceed to tell her that i've seen on other wedding photographer websites pictures taken at the Iberostar resort. I am waiting to hear back i will keep you posted. But i thought i would check here first to see what everyone else did?
I did get a price quote from many photographer charging a $350 vendor fee included in their photgraphy package, maybe that's where the 1 night stay($250) + guest pass($100) for the day is considered to be a "vendor fee". THoughts? I would hate to pay a deposit for a photographer that isn't allowed in?

We flew with Sunwing , if you can DO NOT book with them. I was not happy with there services. We brought 4 suitcases and got charged $120 over weight. Alot of it being the weight of candles. The look I wanted was soft lighting but candles everywhere so I brought alot unfortuntely they didn't use all of them. I left more than half with the WC's. I bought lattice laterns and smaller laterns to place ontables, paper laterns, blue & off white candles. 60 starfish and 24 glass globes.

We used Roan Robinson as we only wanted a small package and I was very happy with the pictures he has put up on facebook. He told me he sent off my pictures in the mail already this week. Which is nice since I've heard other brides have had to wait much longer from other photographers. The resort photographers will stop you around the resort to take pics. You can than go view them and purchase some. I liked a bunch that they took but they are just riduclous with the pricing. One 4x6 $15!!!

We did not go with any other flowers except with what canme with the package. I loved my tropical bouquet. I bought my bridesmaids real touch flowers for $18 a bouquet, which looked beautiful.

We had a private dinner and rented out Uncle Tony's for $800 which I was fully prepared to to have it private. We brought the projector for the slide show as it would of had to be rented from an outside vendor. I have one so it worked out well. They played it on the pull down blinds. We danced the mother/son, father/daughter dance during appitizers with the steel band playing. I loved that as we didn't know what song to play. The buffet of apps was soooooo YUMMY I barely touched my dinner, I think alot of guests filled up on the buffet.

Chic Weddings is an outside WC that we hired day of. I decided to hire her as I did not want to be stressed or getting my friends/family to keep in contact with the beach WC's. They are understaffed so although they do amazing & their best they can't give you 100%. To me I'm happy we spent the money.

They charged us an extra 33 people at $18 plus 5 outside guests at $75 each! Ouch! We tipped our servers, outside WC and photographer. The way we tipped was if they did an outstanding job they got it.

They present you with an itemized invoice day before which must be paid by noon  day of wedding. There was nothing hidden and like I said the WC are amazing and lovely to deal with...I loved them all!

We put it all on visa.

Oh we had them lower the lighter so it was just the side lighting scones and candles which I'm glad I asked as I had seen a wedding the night before and hated how bright the reception was.

If I had to do it again I would change my wedding time to 3:30 , it allows for some room to not stress over photos. At that time of the year sunsets at 5:30. Also I'd try to get my guests to stay at just one resort. We have a 50/50 split between beach & suites which makes it tougher on us.

I will try to do my review this weekend but if you have more questions please ask :)

For the outside guests, was the $75 for their day pass or was this on top of their day pass?

I have yet to be married but I asked the WC at the suites and they just said the vendor fee needed to be paid.

One of my guests is our wedding photographer and we don't have to pay a vendor fee because he will be staying at the resort as a guest.  I'm getting married at the Grand.  If they aren't staying at the resort, I've heard of couples paying a vendor fee for the day for an outside photographer, but never having to require the photographer to spend 1 night.  Hopefully its a misunderstanding.

It seems like if you just recently booked your wedding at Iberostar then you fall under the newest package which I believe says that you can't bring in an outside photographer unless you pay for them to spend the night.

Courtney is right. If you booked your wedding December or later, you fall under the new package. Yes you will have to pay for one nights stay for your photographer if that's the case :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
