My photographer is from Texas but they live in Jamaica for half the year (wedding season) because her husband is her partner and from there. She said September and October are her favorite times of year and I should not be nervous at all!!! I am sure it was sketchy last year because of hurricane Sandy. My fiance says we should be fine because it is very uncommon to have a hurricane 2 years in a row. :-) What are you seeing the temperature at in the last couple years there? Also at least it is the end of the month versus the beginning!

Hello Everyone,

I apologize if this has been asked/answered already, but I tried using the Search function and couldn't find anything. When you place a reservation with Iberostar are you allowed to alter information and how easy/difficult is that process? I ask because the form requests arrival and departure dates and I'm not entirely sure what that will be but I don't want to wait until the point that is definitively known to place my request.

I would definitely reserve the date right away too. You can change it at any point without penalty or fee. But dates fill up fast, so better to have your name on one!

Oh, I completely agree.  I've heard some great things about Jamaica in October.  And really, aside from this past October... the storms almost always miss it.  It's not really in the storm path.  That was one of the reasons we chose Jamaica... because we were pretty set on the month of October.  Any other destination was too much of a risk, weather wise.  I'm SO excited:-)

Thank you everyone for your replies, it was much appreciated. We went ahead and submitted a request today just to try and get a date down, but as we were doing that we realized another potential issue. As best as I can tell from reading this site, Iberostar is 3 resorts in one. When we tried to find the e-mail address to request a date, the person who e-mailed us back was from Beach. Does that mean that if our reservation is made it will only be valid for that resort? How easy/difficult would it be to change to another and are there pricing differences in terms of the wedding between the 3? What are the pluses and minuses for the different resorts and is it possible to stay at 1, but have your wedding at a different 1?

I to have been concerned about weather. Our date is 8/31/13 and I know that august and September are true hurricane season months. My neighbors are native Jamaicans and stated that October is more of the rainy month and encouraged me to go with end of August early September. I actually visited Jamaica in 2011 in October and the weather was great. Just pray for good weather for everyone!

haha this is a huge question. Your date is only reserved at the one resort, the Beach, not the Suites or the Grand. They are entirely separate wedding departments. To switch, you just cancel with one and book with the other, but it may be reserved at the other. There are price differences for the wedding packages and options at the different resorts. The grand is the most expensive to stay at, and the most luxurious. Then the Suites, then the Beach.

Hi Brides, We just got back yesterday and wanted to share a few highlights. We got married at uncle Tony's at the beach but stay at the suites. I'm happy we chose the beach for the wedding as it's off to the side so more intimate. We loved the WC's Santena and Kymoya. What we also realized they also are guest services as well as WC and are short staffed right now. wedding was at 4:15 around, we should of done 3:30 with us being late, our fault not theirs. That's the only thing that stressed me getting enough pics before dark. We hired Chic Weddings for wedding day....love her also. She allowed me to not worry at all. We had them turn the lights off only using side lighting and candles for a more intimate feel. We hired steel pan for an hour at dinner. We did our mother/son, father/daughter dance at this time. We played a slideshow and was surprised from my sister and husband with a taped speech from my brother that couldn't make it. By the time dinner, speeches and cake cutting we barley had time for dances. We danced a few songs than went to the lobby bar. We honeymooned at Rockhouse in Negril......Amazing!!! With only 35 rooms and views of the ocean while seeing dolphins play it was the perfect spot after our wedding week. I will give a full review but please ask away. Oh and we brought 2 suitcases of decorations

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
