I was hoping to do a beach reception, but we will have to see if we have the numbers.  My people are being SUPER slow with booking.  I don't think my mom has even booked her plane ticket.  This makes me concerned that my original prediction of 60 guests may not pan out.   People that originally were like "we are totally coming" now seem to be backing out.  Anyone else having trouble with people booking/not booking?

Well I am just starting with this. I am meeting with my travel agent today to finalize everything. My invites are out so I am hoping people start to book. I have about 30 saying they are going as of now, but I wonder if some will back out. Then there are others I think will go, but I just haven't heard yet for sure. Just hoping for the best, but not worrying too much about it for now. Hoping now that the holidays are about over, people will start to book. Good luck with yours.

This is news to me!  Especially since that's where I am confirmed to have my wedding dinner on Jan 12th.  I just spoke to Tiffany last weekend and she mentioned no such thing...

My travel agent was straight up with me when I first started talking to her about a destination wedding when i told her I only wanted at the most 30 guests. She then said then feel free to invite 50 or more because you will get a lot of people who will say they are totally coming and will even book their rooms but until you start getting confirmations on people booking their flights you won't necessarily have an actual number of attendees. She said she invited over a hundred and ended up with 50 total at her wedding. As for your mom she is probably just waiting to get the better deal because tickets were high not too long ago but the new year usually brings good specials. My TA told me that is the downside to the destination wedding because it is harder to get an actual head count until close to the last minute. Either way I am sure the ones that mean the most will be there. So excited to hear the after experience of your wedding.

I will keep you all updated!  Our RSVPs are due February 1st so I am sure I will have a better idea then.  That's also the last day to book with our TA.  I am just totally lost at what are numbers will be.  We sent out 95 invites inviting 180 persons.  When I did the calculations before sending out the invites, I was estimating almost 80 persons coming based on positive responses from the save the dates.  Now my estimate is down to 55, but only 13 have booked!  I am still missing 75 RSVPs that account for 147 persons.  And, people I totally thought were coming that kept saying "I can't wait" are now like "we have to see."  If they are just now saying "we have to see" then I am thinking they are going to say no because I am pretty sure you would know by now.  O man.  Wedding planning is stressful.  I can't plan decor, reception venue, etc. until I have a better idea of the number!

I'm running into the same issue, everyone is totally going until they actually have to book the trip!  I have my florist on standby for all my rentals, centerpieces etc because I don't know exactly what I will need.  Thankfully the contract is able to be changed even with our deposit made.   I think we'll end up with about 55 also.  I held onto our invitations because I wanted to send them out as a reminder to book and didn't want to do it to soon or over the Christmas holiday.  I'm hoping sending them out in the next couple of weeks will remind people to make their reservations. If you don't have at least 50+ people Calabash isn't an option, and the Mediterranean is way to small for a wedding over 30 people or so, I was in there.  So I don't know what I'd do if we weren't able to do it there!

I'm not really stressed about it yet, I'm thinking (hoping) people will book with their tax returns!

Hi Alicia, are you getting married at the Suites or the Beach resort? This may be the issue.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
