Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

Recommended Posts

I am talking to my planner about the same thing at the Grand as far as the aisle it is short and she said at pretty much all three resorts the aisles are short distance but I asked her about how far the walk is where we are coming from to the aisle. My mom is giving me away and we are walking down to Carrie Underwood's Mama's Song so I want the full song to play. As for my bridesmaids and groomsmen coming down the aisle I am going to have to cut the music at a certain point as well. So the aisles are short but you may want to ask them how far it is from where you are coming from because when I just asked about the aisle she sent me pictures of aisles on the beach from all three properties but that did not help me much so I had to ask a different way. Hope this helps. Congratulations.
Thanks so much for the info! I kept trying to see in people's pictures :-) at the Suites it looks like we walk down some stairs and stuff so I just want the music to work out perfect! (And also know if I have to have two songs one for the party and one for my song to walk ) keep me updated if you hear anything else!

Hello Brides :)

I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of the set up for the semi-private at aunt ruby's ? I have seen the private, and they seem to use round tables for the private receptions. However, the semi-private looks like they use the square tables to create rectangles ? Anyone know if they are flexible with the layout of the square tables ? I don't really want one really long table, i'd like to do a U shape so that everyone can see everyone.

Also, we are going to rent the steel pans band for our ceremony so we can do our first dances on the beach after the signing and champagne toast. Does anyone know if we can request songs for the steel pans band ? I'd like to use some modern songs for our dances, not just any tropical beat.

Hi there,

I've recently returned from our Suites wedding and we did semi-private at Aunt Ruby's. I wasn't taking photos myself that evening, but I'll see if I can find any of our set up from the photos that friends and family have shared with us since our return.

They are flexible with seating to a certain extent. You can absolutely use their square tables to create rectangular tables. We had two guest tables, one seating 12, another 10, and our head table of 4 was at the top of them, so we were set up like U but not actually attached.

How many are you in total? The long 'arms' of the U can't extend too long because there is a set of stairs that lead into the interior of Aunt Ruby's. These stairs need to be accessible to your group (and anyone else seated nearby) as starters are self-serve at the indoor buffet. I'd say you could fit max 14, maaaaybe 16 ppl on each 'arm' of the U, so assuming you'd have a head table, you could do a U shape if you had no more than 32 guests.

Another thing to consider is that there are interior pillars at Aunt Ruby's. You can only do a U shape if you're set up closer in to the building (interior of the resto) so if you had your hopes on being against the railing, unfortunately that space is too narrow to set up a U.

I'm not sure if any of this is making sense, so I'll try to post photos soon!

Hi there,

I just did the 'walk' 13 days ago, and I was so excited it felt like about 10 sec, but it was more like 1.5-2min. You exit a side door of the west wing of the Suites, go down a short flight of stairs (if you have a train get Nicole to fix it at the bottom of the stairs!!) and then you walk across an interlock pathway in front of Aunt Ruby's and take a 90-degree left turn on to the sand, where you'll be facing the ceremony set up (and water) and in line with your aisle. From there, there's still a short walk across the sand until you're actually at the top of your aisle (and runner) unless you have a lot of guests and therefore many rows of chairs.

I had only one attendant, my sister and MOH, so we walked in to the same song and it was about 4 min in length so it worked out just fine. I too wanted to hear most/all of the song, and I did!

I have no idea if I am posting this in the right place but I need some help! I have booked the Iberostar Rose Hall for March 2013, and am using a travel agent/planner. My understanding from all of my paperwork is that we need at least 40 people for a private reception. We will probably have 25-30. We of course still want our first dance and a DJ but have been told they will not accommodate that without a private reception/dinner. Am I missing something here? Surely there is a workaround that is not occurring to me or my planner.

I just need to send in my entree choices for Aunt Ruby's.  They give you three options (steak, chicken, or salmon), however you only get the choice of 2 among your guests.  I have sent requests to all quests for 1st and 2nd choices and was going to go with majority, but they are pretty much even.  Can anyone give some input as to what tastes the best there or if any of the options maybe aren't any good.

Also, does anyone know if they have seperate meals for children and babies?

I can't comment on the food quality but I thought of this situation myself. Just one thing to think of that may help you in the decision is if you have anybody in your group that does not eat meat.. then you may want to have a fish option (as some vegetarians will eat fish...)

I asked the WC about meals for kids and I'm still waiting to hear back. If nobody answers and I hear anything I will post.

Anyone block rooms for their guests? My wedding isn't until Dec 2013, but our TA said the hotel books up 99% of the time. That makes me super nervous! He said it would be 50 bucks per room to block- thats a lot! Especially if we are expecting to block over 75 rooms!!!

Thoughts? any previous brides have any suggestions?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
