Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

Recommended Posts

Has anyone recieved an invoice from Tai Flowers? I sent them back the questionaire with all the flowers and pictures of what i like about a month ago and i just recieved an invoice this weekend. I wanted pink cala lilies for the BM's and a bridal bouquet with lilies also.

The bridal bouquet i want is an upgrade from what is included in the Iberostar package so that was $140 with an upgraded boutonniere for $20...

I need 5 BM's bouquets and 10 GM's boutonnieres and for all that plus devlivery and taxes it was totaling about 1,100!!!

Not to mention they forget the 3 coursages for the moms and the 3 dad's boutonnieres

I thought that everything would be under $1,000 including the parents flowers?

Did anyone else received an invoice from Tai, and what kind of flower are you getting

What's the purpose of being legally married in Jamaica? Can you bring your paperwork back to the states at that point and get a marriage certificate in the states with it?

Anyone have or are considering cutting their cake on the beach after their ceremony? I'm trying to avoid running out of time during the reception and thought it may be nice for ppl to have cake then instead of a cocktail party.
Hi there! Yes, I think we are going to have the cake on the beach. As of now we are going to have a 4:30 ceremony, followed by cake and champagne and then a cocktail hour from 5:30 to 6:30. We want to try and keep the group together until dinner so people don't feel like there a big gaps of time between everything. That was one piece of feedback I have heard from people who have been to destination weddings is that they felt like they didn't know what to do after the ceremony so people know just went their separate ways.

I heard Tai Flower wasn't cheap, but they are good. I sent in what I wanted and it took months and months to get a response. I got a response a few weeks ago which was close to what I wanted, then I sent it for adjustments (they forgot boutonnieres and some other things) then they responded with the fixes and ad ons the next day.

I ordered an upgraded bouquet, two BM bouquets, 5 boutonnieres (groom, men, fathers), 2 corsages, flowers for center of huppa, 6 small balls flowers for isle markers, and 6 flower centerpieces (though we will probably need 1 or 2 more) and we have the quote of $2400. Thought it will probably be closer to $2700.. not cheap. The worst thing is, its not like we get to keep them, or give the centerpieces away as you can't bring them home with you!! I cried a little on the inside to say the least.... but we want it to look nice so we just bit the bullet and are doing it.

Hi Niki (I assume, unless it's Jake!) :-)

You don't have to get married at City Hall before you go but if you do than you can save yourself a whole $200 and go for the Blessed by the Sea ceremony which I believe is the exactly the same other than no legal paperwork to sign at the Jamaican wedding ceremony and possibly not performed by a minister (not sure on that one). Your guests don't even have to know it is not the official wedding and that you got hitched before. You only get legally married once whether it be at City Hall first or skip that and do it in Jamaica or have it performed afterwards at the service with your grandparents although it would be kind of weird to have a destination wedding and not be officially married when you leave Jamaica.

You have to get notarized copies on separate pieces of paper of your birth certificates and passports 30 days in advance of the wedding to the wedding co-ordinator to have the Golden Coast wedding, otherwise City Hall and Blessed by the Sea would be your best bet.

I believe you will be reciting vows at City Hall with a Justice of the Peace so then you would be renewing those vows in Jamaica.

Double check with City Hall first and please let me know what  you decide to do as my fiance might not get his birth certificate translated in English soon enough to get notarized so we can deliver our docs before 30 days prior to our wedding so we may need to do the City Hall thing and renewal of vows in Jamaica as well.

Good luck!!

Jaqui

With respect to flowers, when I found out it would cost $65 for Tai Flora to supply me 3 orchids on the wedding cake I decided, to use Real Touch silk flowers ordered off ETSY.com which will cost a fraction of the price. At this point I am having the ETSY vendor create my bridal bouquet, 2 bouttinieres and flower petals for the aisle runner and it is so much cheaper. I do want real flowers on the dinner table and a few other places but otherwise this will help keep the floral cost down and from what I hear Tai Flora will give you a discount or credit towards what you do want to order if you skip the floral decor you get for free through the package by supplying these things yourself (ie. silk flowers). So upgrading your floral arrangements doesn't give you any discount I believe but say if you want some special floral arrangement on the wedding arch/huppa then I read on here from another bride that she got a discount on that because that is not an item offered in the "Golden Coast" package that you are upgrading.

The Suites "wedding details" document says they provide fresh flowers for the cake - is this not the case? Or did you just want more?

Good point!! I'm going to bring that up!!  Why wouldn't Jodi-Ann of Tai Flora told me that??? I guess there is a certain type of category of flowers that they are willing to use and 3 cymbidium orchids would not be part of the deal and costs $65 extra. I believe the magenta orchids are cheaper (THEY BETTER BE!!!) so I've asked for a quote for them instead. Waiting forever for a reply!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
