Iberostar Rose Hall Brides - Post all info/questions here!

Recommended Posts

I'm really hoping that all goes well with the planning process.... I am going to be very optimistic about this. We are getting our vows renewed here for 2013 (hopefully) and just hearing all of the negavitivity is a little scary. The only thing I can say is that I have been through this process 5 years ago dealing with the ROR and although it was a little stressful everything turned out BEAUTIFUL even though my photographer that I flew in left a day early before getting my all girl photoshoot.... and that was not the venues fault at all.

This time around I'm not going for all the dramatics. I'm keeping it simple and beautiful. We lugged 13 suitcases to JA the first time... I am not doing that again!! All in all, I am still excited about planning my vow renewal on this beautiful island and hopefully at this resort.

Thanks for sharing Christina! Your photos are so much fun - clearly because you two had fun and because you had a great photog!

Are you planning to post a review? I'd love to hear about your experience and anything that might help us IRHS brides-to-be.

Congrats on your marriage!

I am really happy to hear that your wedding and experience at the Beach was amazing.  It's been said a lot on here that while leading up to the wedding communication is bad, the WCs are really on their p's and q's once you are actually there.  I sincerely hope this is the case for me as well.  Looking forward to your review! :)

Just got back from IRHB and the week was absolutely amazing!! The resort was beautiful, food was delicious and the wedding was perfect. The staff worked their asses off all week and always with a smile. While communication may be weak prior to the wedding, rest assured they really do try their hardest to accommodate your wedding wishes and are more than willing to meet with you and work with you when you arrive to ensure everything goes according to plan. The day of the wedding, Kymoya (the WC) was on site the entire day and didn't leave until very late in the evening (past 11pm) ensuring everything went smoothly.

The wedding coordinators are booked up dealing with brides getting married that week, there was a wedding every day we were there the whole week.  I too had been frustrated with the lack of communication, it seemed when i got responses only half my questions were answered, etc.. but once I got there, I realized they really do work hard. If there's anyone to blame it's the Iberostar itself and not the staff onsite, I think they could probably use some help!!!

As for the dinner, we had originally anticipated having a semi-private wedding (where we had the place to ourselves for half the night) for free as well but didn't have the numbers so we were also told it would cost us $400. We opted not to reserve the whole place and they really did a great job of keeping our section private, we had speeches and it was decorated how I wanted and we didn't even notice the other guests. We had a beach bonfire where we danced, had more drinks and released sky lanterns. It was incredible!!! My guests were totally amazed and can't stop saying what an amazing week and wedding overall.

I'll be posting my review soon with some pics. I can't comment on the Suites or Grand, we didn't really spend any time there but the property looked amazing.  For those of you still considering on going forward with your beach wedding, do it!! It was so fun and I have absolutely no regrets :)

I used Marcia and I would warn all who use her to be very careful! She used one of my photos in an ad campaign without my consent. And I believe there are other more qualified photographers out there. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with another professional. R~

Hi, do you mind sharing how much Marcia charged? I'm getting married in August & was curious to the overall total. Thanks

Hi Ladies!

I can't believe I am back and a married woman!!!  It all seems so long ago now.

IRHS was amazing - food, rooms, beach, atmosphere and our wedding was perfect woot.gif

We had some initial trouble with lost paperwork (yes it does happen!), communication and the florist just before we left - it did all work out though.

One in-site I would share is that the coordinators are truly organized and do have all your emails in a special file (they read them even if they don't respond in a timely manner); they do seem understaffed and the communication is what seems to be the area that suffers and their priorities and future brides don't line up- on the flip side they are completely focused on you on your day. A really great example of this is our paperwork.  It was delivered to the hotel next door according to Fed-Ex.  We made several phone calls on the subject, to no avail. The day of our initial meeting my husband brought it to her attention again and by that afternoon our original "lost' paperwork was found.  Frustrating but true.  Our thought was since we didn't let it go and were right there she actually called over or walked over to the other hotel to check for it - It just wasn't a priority prior to then.  Unfortunately there don't seem to be a system to evaluate the priority or urgency of a matter - everything is no problem and deal in the moment.

Our wedding day was amazing.............

Nicole our wedding coordinator was professional and available as needed.

Misha Earle was our photographer - AMAZING!! she gives her all to her brides, is so respectful of your budget and the time you have paid for adjusting to give you the best.  Beyond that she is just a GREAT person.  We had a ton of fun with her and she was amazingly sweet to our boys.  My oldest was full of questions and became her little assistant on the TD shoot.  At the end she slipped him $20 for his help!

Rashel Edwards -OMG ladies!!  Drop everything and book her now!  The airbrushed makeup is so the way to go.  I have never looked so beautiful and it lasted all night (my eye make-up was still perfect the next morning! no word of a lie!)  Rashel is not only talented but the sweetest person ever and very professional.

Godfrey Guy was our florist - THIS WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER.  Sadly in my opinion he is a major chauvinist with no respect for women and a shyster who manipulates brides financially.  I would not recommend any bride work with him.  (I will post the details later)  Thanks to my wedding party things worked out in the end,but not without a lot of stress on my wedding day.

Reggae Band - again AMAZING.  This was a surprise from my husband and dancing in the sand at sunset after the wedding was surreal.  The band was great and were arranged through Nicole.

Aunt Ruby's is where we had dinner.  Food was good - however if I hadn't wanted the outdoor beach reception more than I cared about the food I would have chosen the calabash.  AR is very country western in the menu and that wasn't the 'theme' I had in mind.

Our wish lanterns were a huge hit and we had no trouble doing them.

hope this little review helps msnwink.gif

Hi Ladies..

Just  wanted to put a big warning out there on Godfrey Guy...........

I was married at the Suites on March 30, 2012.  I had hired Godfrey for my flowers.  A few months before the wedding I started getting emails saying I had not decided on what I wanted.  I sent the emails showing what I had asked for etc.  Two weeks before the wedding I got harassed with phone calls and emails saying he needed more money.

My husband tried to speak to him as did Nicole - but we ended up sending more money as we were worried about the potential of not having flowers.  Arrangements were made to meet on the three days prior to the wedding to review what we wanted and confirm flower choices.  He never showed up. In all the back an forth around the extra money he mad some very disparaging remarks about the "Iberostar Brides" and working with them.  He also indicated we were to pay Nicole and he would pick up the money the day after the wedding when he picked up the vases etc.

When the bouquets and Boutonnière were sent to the room I was visibly upset.  My bouquet was wilted and brown and the stems were way too long.  The Boutonnière were all wilted and he sent an extra bridesmaids bouquet.  My Matron of honor went down and met with him explaining the changes that needed to happen.  He was rude and condescending refusing to admit anything was wrong.  After the changes were made the harassing phone calls started.  He called constantly demanding his money now and threatening to take down all the flowers. These calls included fowl language and demeaning comments. In addition his final payment and what I had from the quote and down payment were about 150 off. He was demanding more money. Myself, Nicole, My matron of honor, my photographer and the makeup artist all tried to intervene to no avail.  It took Nicole double checking what he had brought, me going through all my emails and calculating costs vs payments vs material provided, and my friend who is 6'3 going down with the computer documentation and a payment to end the matter.

So proceed with caution ladies.

Sounds like you had a wonderful wedding.  Congratulations.

Can I just ask why you used Godfrey Guy for your flowers and not Tai Flora?  I know Tai Flora is the hotels preferred vendor - just wondering?

Thanks!

So glad you had a wonderful wedding! I am still narrowing down whether we are going to have the wedding and or reception at the Suites or the Beach. Do you know if you need to have a certain percentage of your guests staying at the Beach to have events there? And whether the bride and groom have to stay there? I know at the Suites they require 90% of the guests to stay there and the Bride & Groom can stay either at the Suites or the Grand Rose and guests of the Beach need to pay $30/person. I am  not sure how to go about planning with the 90% requirement, what if I don't have 90% then we are out of luck? That is not real comforting lol.

Hi Laura,

I have my wedding booked with the Beach. The agreement states:

"This package is only for Iberostar Rose Hall Beach guests. The couple and at least 90% of their guests have to be Iberostar guest, (Staying at any of the three

properties in Jamaica) of which at least 80% at the Rosehall Beach"

The package includes 8 people, and each additional person will be $18. If a guest is staying at the Suites or Grand, they are considered a guest of the hotel and only that $18 fee would apply (if you have more than 8 people).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else.
