Thats really good since January is considered "high season."  How far in advance did you book?  I received quotes from my TA for early December 2012 and the prices are really expensive 1900+ w/o taxes.  My FI and I are really worried now because that is not what we wanted our guests to pay :(

That is an amazing deal for the suites.  I have not been able to get a quote within that price range.  Every quote has been 1900+ excluding taxes :s

I would just shoot them an email out linning your itenerary. You dont need the final details sheet..  This is what i did and found they had certain times for dinner etc, which was no big deal but then i knew at least as i went forwrd planning i knew and any suprises should be minimal.

Our wedding is 10 months from today at the Suites (woot!) and I'm wondering what others have done regarding providing Nicole with ceremony, reception, welcome party, etc. choices in advance. I know there's lots of time, but we basically already know what we want to do when and where.

Do you recommend emailing Nicole with our requests now? Is it best to use the final details sheet? I'm thinking it might be as it's in a format she and Tiffany are very familiar with.

I'd prefer to send our requests in sooner then later in case there are questions or requests that can't be met for whatever reason. It would give us a chance to make alternate choices early on (if needed) rather than plan for something that we find out at the 11th hour that we can't do.

I'd appreciate any guidance in this matter - thanks in advance!

Oh, and if we should start using the final details form now, would someone be so kind to share it with me? Thanks!

We were bad, and just put them in our luggage, knowing that it might get taken away.  We got it form the dollar store and took our chances.  Luckily, nothing happened.  I don't know where you would be able to buy them in Jamaica.  I would try asking Tai Flora (although their prices may be high)

I'm finding the same rates and feeling the same way BrideMB. We purposely chose shoulder season for better rates - 2K+ is way over what we want our guests to pay too. I think we just have to wait it out and keep getting quotes. We're prepared to just forget the group booking and go with individual bookings if the rates are better once they come out in the coming months.

Yes we were thinking of doing the same thing.  I hate having to tell my guests what the rates are to date, but on another token I also feel bad not giving them an exact answer until closer to the time.  What a stress!

I just received an email from a TA stating we can't have our wedding at the Grand unless 50% of our guests stay at the Grand as well. The info I got from the grand wc states:

Our wedding package is from 2 up to 10 people.

There is an additional charge of US$20 per person
Only eligible to those that booked Grand-5 rooms for 3+ nights or Grand Oceanfront one room for 7+
nights
(Including tax and service charge)

Can anyone clarify? TIA

Yes this is true... it actually says in the 2012 paperwork sent out, I believe it's 90% of your guest must stay. You have to have a minimum of atleast 5 rooms, like if you had a small wedding with only 3 rooms book you would not qualify for the free wedding. But if you have a larger wedding with 50 guests and only 5 rooms book at the Grand but the rest at the other properties, I do not think they will allow that.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
