Yes, sky lanterns are allowed.  I was married at the Suites.  We tried to do them the night of the welcome party, but most of my guests arrived that day and were exhausted so they didn't stick around after it ended.  Then we were going to do them the night of the wedding, but the weather didn't cooperate, so we did them the last night we were there on the beach.  We had 10 lanterns and 11 people left on the last night so it actully worked out perfectly!

Yes and no. The rehearsal dinner is supposed to be primarily for the people who are involved in the rehearsal of the wedding. However, it is common practice, to invite out of town guests to the rehearsal dinner (even for weddings in your home town).

On another note, glad to hear you've got the steel pans band!  We had them at our ceremony.  They played while guests were arriving, and they also playved the Canon in D for my entrance, and they played while we were signing, and champagne afterwards.  We had them for an hour, it worked out well.  I liked it so much more than recorded music.  We forgot to tip them though :(

Starrysim,

The video was good but I don't feel that they captured much of the talking from when we were getting ready. Supposedly my husband did something funny for me that he wanted on the video but instead they got it as video and put music over it so you can't hear what he's saying. My father also composes music, which I used for the processional and recessional and I was hoping to hear it as I walked up and down the aisle but I forgot to mention it to Marcia Roberts so she used clips of us in the edited video with other music so you can't hear his music on the video.

Actually, mine were just mailed out as well.  Unfortunately there's a little issue because they sent it to the wrong address, so it will be a bit delayed.  I'm so anxious to get them!  We have a video too - what did you think of yours?

ErinDoc,

I think I still look at my pictures every day because I had so much fun, but I am pretty much back to reality now. I've been working on the name change process, but I still haven't received the legal certificate from Jamaica and the MVA will not accept the Certified License that we signed in Jamaica. I was able to get my social security card, but not my drivers license so I feel like I don't know who to call myself.

For Past Brides, How long does it take to get the legal marriage certificate from Jamaica?

Congrats! My fiance and I are planning to do a site visit next month! I've been before but he hasn't so I wanted us to see it together before our wedding in June. We're calling it a mini "working vacation". We're just going for a long weekend. We plan to meet the wedding coordinator and staff, check out the different venues/activities, restaurants, and ask a gazillion questions. We're also planning to shoot a video there that we're going to post on our wedding website for our guests to see so they can get excited about the trip! They do offer discounted rates if you inquire via e-mail. Make sure you get a confirmation number in writing before you book your airfare though. Best Wishes!

Well all, I'm back from a week of bliss and STRUGGLING to adjust to reality!!! I've already decided I'm going to have to start planning my next vacation in order to get out of this funk! :P It was beautiful, amazing, and went WAY too fast! I'm hoping to get my pro pics before I post my review, but I'll add my pics and bits and pieces of info as I think of it.

Here's my table at Aunt Ruby's (Suites): (17 people, non-private, three large cylinder vases, four small square vases, about 12 large votive candles, 20 small votives, no chargers) They put the Christmas lights up right before our reception and they were perfect!!

Kimberli - Welcome back!  Everything looks beautiful!  I know, it's so hard sitting around waiting for the pro photos.  Mine are stuck in courier limbo, I'm dying here waiting for them.  Oh, and you looked BEAUTIFUL!  You're the one with the one-shoulder Allure dress, right?  I must see more pics :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
