Hi everyone!

I am getting so excited reading through this thread. My fiancee and I are meeting with the TA this Friday to go over choices for our Jamaican wedding.

So far we are leaning towards the Iberostar because from I what I can see, it gives our guests the options of staying at the Beach, Suites or Grand. We are really at the beginning phases, but if we choose to stay at the Suites and hold the the wedding there, Should we give our guests the option of staying at all three of the resorts? I understand the Day Pass issue, but I had read that there was some percentage requirement for guests to stay at the hotel where the wedding will be held. Is that true?

Also, did anyone find it helpful to do a "site visit" prior to the Resort? We are looking to plan a mini vacation sometime this year, and were wondering if we should use that to head down and scope out the resort/island.

Any other January/February brides out there?

Thanks for any help!!!!! :)

Oh no, how frustrating! I sent Nicole at the Suites a follow-up email this morning, asking in the subject line for her to confirm we're set for the date. We're looking at an early Dec 2012 date so we'd really like to send out STDs this month. Good luck...to us both!

Congratulations on your recent wedding! Are you still feeling the wedding high? :) Your photos are beautiful, and your review's been very helpful, thank you.

I'm a Toronto bride-to-be, patiently waiting for the Suites WC to confirm our ceremony date and I've done a lot of research on the Iberostar properties but was hoping you could help answer a couple of questions.

The steakhouse you had your reception at - is that Aunt Ruby's? Is there just one steakhouse for the three properties? It's an option for a Suites reception too, so I'm confused if it's one in the same or if there are two different steakhouses.

I'm considering the steakhouse for our reception - love the idea of outdoor dining - but I have to ask, what was the weather like? I've read it's quite hot and humid at this time of year - is it like Toronto summer humidity? Better? Worse? If it's the same (or worse) not sure I or my groom could handle it wearing a gown and suit, lol.

Thanks in advance!

Sarah

Unfortunately, I can't add more pictures.  I wanted to add more, but there's a bug that won't let me add pictures while editing :(

Thank you very much for sharing this information.  Congratulations to you and your husband can not wait for pictures and reviews!

If you have any pictures of the meals from Aunt Ruby's I would love to see them!

Thanks again!

Afterwards we stood around taking pics for a while, so they replayed a couple songs then too. So basically if you don't have enough, they'll adjust. They do a great job at it!

Help please!

I'm having a hard time finding current information about sending in the birth certificates. My fiance and I have Canadian birth certificates without our father's name on them. Has that posed a problem for anyone else or are we ok to send in the notarized copies of those?

Thank you so much Iberostar brides!

I'm not getting married at Iberostar but my resort required the Long-Form Birth Certificate that has all your parents info. on it.

You need to request it (and of course pay the fees) but I did mine on-line, ServiceOntario and it came within the week.

A note to the brides waiting for confirmation, call Sylvia or Nicole or whatever WC you have been dealing with. I had the best luck calling them and was pretty stressed about dates so confirming a date was key. It was also a big factor for figuring out the travel dates and group rates. Good luck ladies!! :)

One Steakhouse is Uncle Tony's, and the other is Aunt Ruby's.  One is at the Beach, the other at the Suites (I always forget which is which).  As for the weather, it was totally fine for us in mid-November. Not as humid as the worst of Toronto.  There's usually a bit of a breeze too.  That said, my legs got really hot and sweaty under my dress while sitting down during dinner, but otherwise I was fine. My husband was fine in his suit for the ceremony and pictures (a very light wool suit - please don't make yours wear polyester!).  Hope this helps!

I called a few days ago, that's how I was able to catch the date error. I'm gonna buy a calling card and follow up all emails with a phone call 4-5 days later.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
