Yeah, I was told you need the wedding certificate.

I remember being told the same thing- you need a wedding certificate. I just can't remember where I read or got the info. I'd check with your WC.

On another note, I'm doing a garter but I'm making it- I found the lace/rhinestone piece that allows me to make the same one I wanted on etsy ($40+) for less than $10. BUT it's mainly just because it's pretty, and it's just for the FI and I. I won't be doing any garter toss or anything like that....

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I wrote. I have one month until my wedding at the Beach. I'm getting really excited and I've been finalizing all plans. I have been getting frustrated with the fact that I keep asking Sylvia to book the steel pan band and a fire dancer and she hasn't confirmed if she's done it or not. Does anyoen know if I'm supposed to put a deposit down for them before I get there?

I also wanted to let you guys know if you are trying to find something for your gift bags for your guests, I contacted Floral Fantasies in Negril and they have gift baskets and they will deliver the items to the resort for $30. I was able to get a small bottle of rum and a bag of coffee for $12 each. I then ordered some cheap reusable grocery bags online that I'm going to bring with me. This way I don't have to carry nas much stuff down with me.

Hey everyone, I haven't drafted up my review yet because I was still trying to readjust to being back. We'll be happily married come this Sunday! Anyhow I just wanted to know how long did it take past brides to receive their marriage certificate from the Suites? I obviously can't change my name yet here in the States until I do but I am anxiously waiting and hoping it will arrive soon! I will try to start drafting up my recap of our beautiful day this weekend!

Hello all past/future brides!! I am planning on wedding at IRHS on May 18, 2013 and have TONS of questions for you past brides.. First off, congratulations on what must have been a beautiful and amazing wedding in Jamaica! I guess i will just ask the questions i have on my mind right now, and just post more as i think of them.. Everyone and anyone, please respond because I sure could use the help!!

1. How many months before your wedding did you send save the dates?
2. How many months before your wedding did you send invitations?
3. Did you use a travel agent? If so, I know most require a deposit to "hold" the rooms, did you pay this deposit yourself, then just got refunded the money once people paid?
4. Did you provide travel agent contact information on your save-the dates or invites (did you include their business cards??)

5. When did you find out how many people were REALLY coming. (I feel like most people are saying "yes were coming!" but im not sure if they are REALLY coming, or just trying to be polite). When did you get a final headcount.. and how did you budget your wedding without this headcount???

Thanks brides!!

-Kate :)

Hello Kate, and welcome...

Let's see..got engaged in Nov 2010,wedding date Sept 25, 2011...

Save the dates went out in feb 2011.  I used http://www.destinationweddings.com as my travel agent.  They provide free save the dates that have their information on.  She was able to block rooms for me that I paid the initial deposits on.  Then as guest reserved their rooms for $100 my balance dropped.  Instead of getting a refund the amount was applied to the balance for my room.

Invitations went out June 1 2011 (went out a little late due to moving), travel agent info was on that as well.

So here is my vent and only real problem with my wedding.  The inconsideration of my guests that didn't RSVP, or did and canceled, even some that reserved their rooms and canceled and didn't tell me.  So when did I get my final head count.  Honestly the day before my wedding.  Not wanting to freak you out, but that is what happened.

How do you budget of it..YOU DON"T and that really pissed me off.  I cut out a lot of things I wanted to do, like OOT bags, favors, etc because I just didn't know how many people were coming.

I had about 50 people say they were coming, so I budgeted for 50.

48 people RSVP by the RSVP date

Sept 1, sent email for final head count- numbers dropped to 43

Sept 19, sent email for menu selection-found out numbers were down to 31..:(

Sept 24, day before my wedding found out that 4 people I thought had rooms, had canceled.

So final number 27

well, ladies...i got married!!!

its all now something me, my husband and our guests can reminisce about...

all went very well..of course, there were a few hiccups...like, i don't have a clue where my bridal hanger is...didn't get ALL the decor the way i wanted..but still beautiful..had to move the wedding inside due to the weather AND i feel as though Marcia E. Roberts didn't have enough time to capture mine and torry's love (eventhough she's incredibly prompt, professional, patient and overwhelmingly accommodating) due to some crazy timing with having to move things inside, etc..plus, i was late walking down the aisle (again, timing, etc) but all in all, everything was great!!!

i decided to just 'go with the flow' and adopt a 'no problem, mon' attitude at the last minute...our guests were happy and i'm confident that everyone had a good time.

hoping to post pics, soon.  stay tuned.

ok, ladies, that's it from here... hope ya'll have a GREAT weekend..let the honeymoon commence in 4.3.2.1... ;-)

until next time, be blessed!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
