Hi Ladies - I wanted to share responses from the WC at the Suties (see red answers).  Hope this helps those of you with similar questions....  Also, email me if you would like me to pass along any of the attachments that Tiffany mentions.  My email is erinmdougherty03@yahoo.com

Hi Nicole/Tiffany,

My wedding is quickly approaching, and I was hoping you could answer a few questions for me:

1.  Can you provide a general outline of the wedding ceremony that I could use in my programs? Please see enclosed ceremony outline.

2.  What shape are the tables at Aunt Ruby's?  How many people can sit at each of them?  I have seem where you have request the Steakhouse to be in private ,how many guest do you have ? In order to have the steak house in private you have to have 50 guest are more . if you meet the requirement to have the Steakhouse in private you can have round tables or square table both can hold up to 10pax.

3.  Are wish lanterns allowed? yes

4.  I would like to let my guests choose their dinner if possible.  What are the dinner options at Aunt Ruby's?  When do you need to know the final head count for the wedding/reception and dinner counts? Please see enclose group menu for the Steakhouse  ,we need the count at least a week before arrival.

5.  I would like to book a Mento Band for a welcome party on Friday night on either the lobby terrace or the lazy river island.  When do you need to know which we choose - the terrace or island?  Are either already booked? A month before your arrival .

6.  Do I need to do anything further to book the steel pan band for the ceremony and cocktail party and the DJ for the reception? no we will book then for you.

7.  Do people normally tip the DJ and band (in addition to payment for their services)? It optional

8.  I sent in details with my wedding documents.  Is there any other documentation that you need from me for wedding/rehearsal dinner/etc. details? Attached you will find some documents, one with the information about the wedding day (Wedding Details-PDF file), and the other (Last wedding details-word file) with the details that you need to fill out and send us back before your arrival.

We would appreciate if you could fill out the word document called “Last Wedding Details†and send it back to us at your earliest convenience.

Once we receive this document back we will send you an itinerary of the day based on this information as well as an estimate of the wedding charges.

Thank you,

Erin

The beach party was at night...right on the beach in front of the pool at the Beach resort. They had drinks and a DJ and the star friends were there too. I believe it started around 9 and was over around 11. There wasn't a bonfire. The beach bbq was during the day and it happened a few times throughout the week but I can't exactly remember which days.

Hope that helps!

was this beach party during the day or at night?  was it a bonfire??  i don't recall a beach party at night when i visited last year but hey, things might've changed plus the WC said the beach bbq was another day..maybe she's getting hung up on the 'naming' of it...beach party vs. beach bbq...

please help..i leave in under 2 weeks and i'm so utterly frustrated with the WC and her lack of good info i could just scream!  stupid.gif

ugh?!?

I originally contracted with Marcia Roberts and recently cancelled and booked Misha Earle.  I think I have both price lists.  PM me your email and I'll send them to you.

I was thinking of originally using the resort photographer, however after alot of thought and looking into the photos of the resort versus outside photographers, there was no comparison for quality and originality.  So we decided to book Misha Earle. Her work is amazing, and for the amount of photos you get with her etc.. it is priced wayy better than the resort photographer and her photos are amazing! if you contact her, she is really quick to respond and will send you her pricing.

Hope that Helps!!!

Okay Ladies.. i just have to vent here. I am SOOOO sad right now...

I am getting married on a Thursday, and we wanted to have a Bonfire on the beach, with a DJ and open bar for two hours, for our after dinner reception and dance. I was told by the Beach WC, Silvia, that because my wedding is the night of the beach party for the resort, i am allowed to have a bonfire and open bar, but i am not allowed to have a DJ!!!! She said that the beach party has a DJ and open bar, on a different section of the beach, but that there can only be one DJ at a time.. sooo my wedding suffers.. :( .... We are releasing sky lanterns. so i am soo sad that we can't have a dj on the beach for our reception. so now i have NO IDEA what we are going to do. as i need a dj for the dances...

ugh.. i am just soo disappointed and sad. Any advise would be awesome.. cause i am just feeling lost right now.. i mean... a wedding with no dance portion for my friends and family is just not an option for me. i have a first dance.. father daughter dance.. and mother son dance.. how do you do all of this with no friggen DJ?

she did say we could have a cocktail party with a DJ and open bbar etc... but then we would be inside.. and i have the sky lanterns... so i don;t know if that would work.

*sigh*.

Also just to add to this, Misha Earle pays for all of the resort fees for outside guests and vendor fee. But i have to tell you, you will have to let the WC know this, as what they will do is charge Misha the 75.00 per person fee and then still charge you the 100 vendor fee on the wedding bill. When i let the WC know that Misha is paying for all of the fees from the resort, she advised she will put it in my file.. and Misha Earle will pay for those.

Awww sorry to hear you're so sad.  How about renting out the disco 8:30-10:30, and following that with the bonfire?  Or, if you're renting out an entire restaurant, then you can do your dances and speeches there, and then move to the bonfire.  Or, do what I'm doing - do the bonfire for your welcome party instead :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
