Hi! It's been a while since I've been on here. I took a break from planning, but now that I'm slightly less than 3 months away I need to start focusing on the wedding. I'm getting really excited!!! I also just booked Marcia Roberts as my photographer so I can check that off my list of things to do.

They can do as many people as you want- the more people you have the more the price goes down per person. I don't think that's too many people to get ready in a room, but it all depends on your space preferences... :)

I have been trying to get dimensions for the huppa at the suites.  I have asked the WC but have not heard back yet.  It would be great if a past bride could share how much fabric they took with and if they had too much, not enough, etc!!!

Great question.  It was on my mind too!  I'm getting married at the Beach 07/22/12 and I asked the W/C Silvia about the huppa since I strongly prefer it over the arch.  She said the Beach resort has a huppa.

However, I have no clue about its dimensions. It might be more affordable to bring the fabric from home.  I'm assuming Tia Floral will be the recommended vendor for its decor and it might be ridiculously priced.  Maybe Silvia would know.  Give her a call. She's really helpful.

Happy planning!

Suites and Beach brides...are you required to pay $20 per person to set up for the wedding ceremony when you go over 10 guests?

I'm not having any chairs for the ceremony and the Grand still wants me to spend $20 per person which is going to cost me $800 for NOTHING! She said regardless I have to pay.  WHAT THE F*CK!

Anyone know what the penalty for cancelling the wedding but still staying at the property is? Right about now with all the extra cost,...Im thinking about having my ceremony and reception elsewhere!BangHead.gif

Hey!,

We are getting married on the Beach, and We are required to pay 18.00 per head over the 8 people included in the package however saying that, we are having 35 people and we will be needing chairs for them.. but that 8 dollars per head also includes the wedding cake big enough for all of the guests, and the champagne for the toast after the ceremony etc..so for us it is worth it.. It sucks though that they don't give you the option of whther or not you want that stuff or not..

I honestly don't know what the penalty would be, however it may be worth asking the WC, if you are that unhappy.. then you should totally look into it.. it is your day and you need to be happy with how it all plays out..

Best of luck!

i completely understand your angst and i hate the fact that their nickle and diming us..but..it is what it is...

did you qualify for the FREE wedding at the grande?  perhaps that's a way to avoid the cost..and/or maybe you hold an intimate ceremony offsite and then do a dinner at one of the restaurants..if your guests are staying there?  everyone could make their dinner reservations for the same day (depending on how many ppl) and just meet up there..or have everyone meet in the buffet restaurant and take over a side of it...that might be a better and more viable option.

iberostar is a beautiful resort but they really need to revamp their wedding packages, etc..there are so many other resorts in jamaica that offer FREEBIES and so they should SERIOUSLY consider doing that...

i bet if more brides brought up situations like this and/or cancelled, they'd have to reconsider our wants/needs/etc.

good luck and as always, happy planning!!

Im waiting for my travel agent to get back to me in regard to penalties for cancelling the actual ceremony and reception but still stay at the resort.

know why they can't give all the brides who previously booked that special, it would really help with the finances. If that was the case I wouldn't give a care about the $800 for "ceremony set up"  Im having 50 people and that $20 per person I was told was only for the ceremony setup. My WC never said anything about champagne or cake for my guest.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
