Is it crazy for me to send out STDs like 10 months in advance?  I'm assuming not, but just thought I'd look into it.  I finished my draft STD today and it's near perfect!  Loved the boarding pass STD idea.  So I took it and ran.  DIY is so much better than I thought.  It's fun (I'm guessing the novelty will wear off) and it allows you to make it just as you want!

bruceg05,

I don't think that's too early. It will give people enough time to arrange vacation time, save their money and plan ahead for your wedding. We sent our STD's out in February. I'm sending formal invites in August (I think) for our December wedding.

I don't think that is bad, if it is then we are crazy too...  wink.gif

I sent our STD out 14 months before.  We always promised everyone that we would give them at least a year to save, so this is just how the timing worked out for when we got engaged and need to have the wedding.  I am planning on sending the invites out 5-6 months before, so that I can get my final head count at least 60 days before.  Our guests might put a damper on that plan, but it is what I am trying for.

I sent my STD out about 8 months ahead of time and then I just sent my invites out 5 months out because my TA wants people to reserve the rooms by the end of June and I wanted to include a reminder in the invite. I felt like it was really early, but I know that people need to book the trip and I've already been told that flights are going up for November.

I also wanted to let those of you who are concerened about getting through to Tai Flora that I spoke to Jodi last night. She apologized for how long it takes to return emails and calls, but she said that she should be better from now on because she is now getting her emails through her phone so she can respond quicker. I'm hoping that she will stick to her word, but the ideas that she did send me yesterday looked great so I still want to give them a chance.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
