what are his parents paying for?

Recommended Posts

We paid for everything. My Dad gave us money as a wedding gift but it wasn't put towards the wedding. I feel that if they don't offer then they either 1. don't have it or 2. don't want to. We really felt we should pay for it ourselves though.

My Fi's parents are hosting the welcome dinner and paying they way for his sister her BF and thier son.

My FMIL is also buying my dress for me as my mother and I have a strained relationship. She has also offered to help with OOT bags or favors.

They have been wonderful to us.

Just as I expected....it's across the board all the way. There are def no set traditions anymore when it comes to paying. FI is going to talk to FMIL after the new year. Knowing her, she probably hasn't offered anything because she probably doesn't want to step on anyone's toes (namely, mine). She is one of the sweetest ladies I know and def has her own opinions but she also knows I'm a pretty head strong girl so she only offers opinions or help when asked. We have a pretty good relationship so we are comfortable talking it over with her and her husband. And you are right, if they say no, well that is the worse that could happen. I really feel like she's just waiting for us to bring it up - it's her way of being polite. She's one of the smartest ladies I know so I know she is aware of all the usual traditions when it comes to paying. I'm hopeful they say yes! Thank you ladies for all your responses. I really appreciate it!

My Dad is giving me 5K towards the wedding. My fiance's Dad is not giving us anything - except for sh*t that we moved the wedding from Sept to Dec - don't think we'll be getting any help from him =0)

When Kenny and I started out, we assumed we would be paying for the entire wedding ourselves, so my Dad chipping in was just an added bonus. We'll use his contribution to hire an outside photographer and have a catamaran cruise for our guests.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
